Garrett
Trying to decide between the two, anyone with any experience with either of the two or words of wisdom. I play everything from blues to metal if that helps.
Kaiser Bill
Potato potahto...I guess it depends on how much money you have to blow. I would assume a custom would be a bit more money...but the only differences in the 6 Les Pauls I've owned is the finish. They were all top notch guitars and paid for themselves quickly. Markini
IMO the Classic Customs have very good and consistent quality control, Why that particular model? I don't know. But I have played and owned several Lps and the CC was the "best crafted" LP from one guitar to another.
JM2112
I've got the Classic Custom and LOVE it!!!! I typically play classic style rock and blues tunes and it's just perfect to my ears. I don't know how well it would sound for metal since it has the Classic 57 pickups, but it's going to be subjective in any case. There's nothing about the Classic Custom I would change for any reason. I would advise that you decide soon since Gibson is revamping their product line for 2013 and dealers are trying to push 2012 models out the door. You have a good chance to snag a great guitar and an even greater price regardless of what model you decide to buy. Get'em while you can!
Jimmy3711
I have both and each of them deliver.
quapman
Another nod here for the Classic Custom. But I have one so I am biased. I love mine. But it doesn't matter what we think. You should play them both and decide which one feels better in your hands.
beterpan
How sad.... Gibson seems to discontinue them in 2013... :(
btoth76
...Because they were limited run instruments. Another reason is that Gibson is phasing out the baked maple fingerboard models, since they have resolved the rosewood/ebony issue.
charlie brown
I too, have both! LOVE them, both, as well: 2000 Classic (Figured Top) Honeyburst. I did "mod" the Classic, by changing the pickups, to '57 Classic (neck) and Classic +, in the bridge position. Also, added a '59 TRC, and plain pickguard, without the 1960 silksceen, as the original has. *(I kept ALL the original parts, and pickups, though.) (Late) 2011 Classic Custom (Gold Top) "Stock," except for the TRC...which, again, is a reissue '59, as I just prefer the wider (white) beveling, on those, to the standard versions. Just a personal, cosmetic, addition. CB

I hate to see them go into history since they are such great guitars, but on the other hand I have no issue having a guitar that's rare. It will be interesting to see how these guitars will be viewed 10 years or more from now...

It will be interesting to see how these guitars will be viewed 10 years or more from now... Well, let's hope Gibson comes out with another major hit next year. What I saw yet isn't impressing, except for the SG Original and the "new" SG Standard, and - of course - the new solid LP Traditional. The 2013 Les Pauls, like the various Tributes, the "T", and those LPJs are dull and boring (IMO). If Gibson would listen, I have a couple of ideas: SG Classic Custom for example (SG with acrylic Custom article to keep prices lower, or a 3PU version of the LP Classic Custom). I doubt these guitars would become sought-after collector's dreams: remember, nobody wants those maple-boarded '75-'77 Norlin LPs, even tough this option is rarely offered by the builder. Cheers...
