hey! i love guitars, and i love gibson, but sadly i'm not an owner yet... i started playing guitar at 8, had a First Act 1/2 size acoustic, and got bored after about a month. around May of this year, my church was getting a praise band together. i ran home to get my First Act, and did nothing but play for about 2 weeks. The praise band idea didnt catch on, but i was hooked. my Grandpa was so happy i was playing again (he's the guy who got me started in the first place), he got me a Dreadnought Silvertone. once again, i did nothing but play. around the middle of summer, i started asking if i could get a electric for my birthday in November. once school started, i had access to guitar tabs because my high school loans laptops to all of the students. i was trying to play Back in Black on an acoustic, and i think my mom took pity on me, so i got a Harmony (i think its an H 802). i got this on Nov. 15, and i love it. its a good beginners electric. i believe i have been doing well for someone who has only been playing seriously for 7 months.

here are my guitars.

First Act( i broke 3 of the strings and lost a tuner in the frenzy phase)

my silvertone(great sound for a cheap acoustic)

and my Harmony(there is no pickup selector switch, so the PU's are wired out of phase)

hope everyone likes the guitars and that i am accepted.

Hey man, you gotta start somewhere...now you have no where to go but up... :D/

I am not entirely sure if I am qualified in this forum community to give advice (if I'm not then feel free to tell me and I will shut up and go by an SG, that forum will take anyone...)

But tabs are really nice n all, but don't live and die by them. It is a huge advantage to learn to READ music...

I learned to read SIMPLE music not too long ago and it will payoff later, I hope...

Welcome to the forum! When I first came here, all I owned was my Sigma Acoustic. Don't sweat the axe you wield. Learning the craft of playing well and reading music will help you more. Be on fire for the music. The really nice guitars will come with study and application in both music and academics. Hopefully your guitars stay in tune fairly well.

You will never not know what kind of guitars you want to own. It's not like you'll forget what you want while you sleep. I bought my first Les Paul at age 46. Even my old a** remembered from age fourteen that the guitar I really wanted (still) was a Gibson Les Paul Standard.

yeah, i've been trying learning to read music for a while, but i just can't seem to wrap my brain around it 8-[

i'm 14, and the only reason i have 3 guitars for only a couple years is my grandpa is an avid guitarist, and the first electric i played was his Strat, so he wants me to have as wide a range of guitars as possble.

I started by playing the piano when I was a little kid, and the musical knowledge (chord progression, key signatures, scales, modes, etc) really paid off when I took up the guitar. It made everything make sense, and it really gave me a means to improve my playing.
