LeoPaul422 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Heart was awesome. Nancy Wilson is a great guitarist, very under-rated & Ann's voice is as powerful as ever. Their rendition of "Black Dog" is better than Zeppelin. I was surprised Nancy didn't play a Les Paul, rather she played a Nightshawk, SG & a Semi single Cutaway Gretch and a Tele Custom.
daveinspain Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Very cool, maybe I can get more for my Blueshawk now that she is playing one... I'm still after an ES 175 but I can't jusyify getting another guitar without selling one or two that I don't use....
Mark Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I thought I read that they started as a Led Zeppelin cover band. I did see them a few times in the 70's they opened for the Lynyrd Skynyrd.
voxman59 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I saw them last moth in Boston!!! Those Chicks can ROCK!!! Been a fan ever since the first album. Seen them live twice. Nancy was playing two LP and the TELE and a Gretch, the other guitarist was all FENDER!!! It was such a great show!!!! ROCK&ROLL!!!!

Interesting that she ditched the LPs since last month but I'm sure she's got tons of guitars. Guess the LPs got too heavy>
Searcy Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I saw them about 2 years ago and they were still top notch. Nancy played mostly Les Pauls and Teles. Ann may be the best rock singer alive and I agree, their Zep songs sound better than the originals.
Markini Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Nancy Wilson also supported or still supports Epiphone. On occasion she still plays a EPI LP Ultra Sunburst. IMO one of the best EPI LPs ever made.

Markini Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 It looked like a Gretch but that might have been an Epi WildKat that she was playing. Nancy plays several guitars including Gretch. I saw a Heart concert on Pallidium (music channel) where she just about had a different guitar for each song. She is an excellent musician.

LeoPaul422 Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Maybe it was a Gibson, but it had 3 pups.
Searcy Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Sounds like it might have been a St Blues guitar.
LeoPaul422 Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Sounds like it might have been a St Blues guitar. No it was a Nighthawk. She did play her Tele Custom on 2 or 3 songs.

I don't know what Pallidium is, but on Dish Network I watched a Heart Concert on a channel called "HDNET". It was probably the same concert footage. It was "Live from Caesar's Palace in Windsor, Ontario" And yes, she had a different guitar for about every song. (And still looks pretty good doing it And these sisters can still rock!

LeoPaul422 Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Fyi, Heart played @ Harah's in Tunica last Friday.
Riffster Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Nancy actually help Gibson develop the Nighthawk back when they came out, dubbed "the Strat Killer" She is working on a new model that will be called "The Fanatic" based on the Nighthawk, that is probably what you saw. I bet she was playing her own prototype. This info is in the current issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine.
