zombywoof Posted November 20, 2012 Share Posted November 20, 2012 OK, being curious and after poking around a bit it may be that the OJs with "The Gibson" moniker were the first version of the guitar issued in the early 1990s. They seem to have had Sitka tops instead of Adi and three tone bars. So it appears these are a somewhat different beast from the later issues. I swear though that logo looks like it was applied with someone who did not have the steadiest hand in Bozeman. Word is these were flippin' great sounding guitars. I'm probably not answering your question, but I can give you some history of the headstock label. That was the form used up until the early 30s -- it may have been used on early Jumbos, but the one I posted, which was from 1935, is the earliest Jumbo we have. Here is a U-2 from 1913 From the late teens and early 20s Here is a 1931 L-2 I guess you may want to know about a reissue -- I can't help you there.
