Rocky4
What is the best way to stop this? I've seen where a graphite pencil works, but is this the best way? Any other suggestions?
btoth76
Let a luthier file the slots - that's the ultimate solution. Cheers... Bence
AXE®
Pencil lead works fine but it's messy. Plain old white candle wax works great and no muss no fuss. Not melted. This stuff is great!
rct
Teeniest file you can find, two passes at most. Really sharply creased piece of light grit sandpaper, couple scritches at most. Nice pointy exacto blade, couple scrapes at most. Don't over do it. rct
Big Bill
I use graphite, a little messy but it works.
kidblast
If you can't smooth it out with a small file or sand paper, try to get some big bends nut sauce in there, that stuff works good and it's clear, not messy like graphite.
Twiz
I use a piece of .05mm lead from a mechanical pencil. I've had the same pack for maybe 10 years or so. A little goes a long way. It's always the G string on my Gibsons. btoth76 is right though, getting a luthier to file it is probably the best thing to do.

Rocky4
Thanks everybody. I'll give the pencil lead a crack first, then go from there.

ZenKen
I'm with Axe on this one. $20 for nut sauce and .29 cents for a small white candle at Walmart that will last the rest of your life.
ShredAstaire
I've never had to touch my own nuts... I got my luthier to put bone nuts on all of my geets. I guess he filed them gud!
daveinspain
Playing with your own nuts is tricky business, leave it to a professonal...
