pickguard change on an sg standard?

hi everyone,

I've got a 2011 gibson standard limited in cream. I was wondering if it is possible to switch from the black, big pickguard that I have on it, to a small, white one, as on the les paul/sg custom vos or the '61 reissue. assuming that the upper screw holes would stay uncovered, would the screw holes on the guitar match the ones on the small pickguard?

You should look into a change to the "angel wing" SG pick guard from the pre-bat wing SG guard. You'll need separate pick-up rings (angled) as well as the pickguard. The holes won't line up between the 2 guards. You can see if someone will cut a guard without mounting holes so you can match your bat wing guard to the angel wing, but I don't think you'll have much luck. You can also use adhesive to attach an un-drilled angel wing guard to minimize the holes.

The angel wing guards are difficult to find but if you do some searching in the custom guitar body sites you should be able to find something.

Good Luck

you're right, I didn't thought of it. I feel like a ****** now =$ ahahah

Yeah, I was thinking the same when I got my 2007 SG, but I dig it with the batwing PG.

I want a 2013 "50's" tribute, no PG stock, so it is prime for upgrade, and with p-90's it should round out my "arsenal".
