jdgm
Experience Hendrix has announced there will be a 'new' Jimi Hendrix album released next year. 'People, Hell and Angels' will have 12 unreleased tracks which were recorded '68-'69 and are 'experimental'. Link to article - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-20443218 I do not think there can be 12 unheard, unreleased Hendrix tracks left...so I await the track listing with interest and would expect there to be another take or mix of - for instance - "South Saturn Delta". I wonder what Eddie Kramer really thinks.
EVOL!
The story I heard is that he did the record himself, without the Experience or Band of Gypsies; played all of the guitars, keyboards, and percussion. Should be interesting to hear. Not sure how finished the tracks are.

stein
I don't feel like anything from the new "Hendrix Estate" is worth buying into. I don't mean that because of the controversy behind it, but mostly because they don't seem to understand the music or his career or what made him relevant...what made his music great in the first place. It seems that if I am not hearing of them trying to stop his "story" from being told or his music being available, they are producing stuff for the public that doesn't seem to be worthwhile or even have anything to do with what he was about, or "add" anything. I would be surprised if what was released had any value or was worthy of the name "Hendrix".

Its is true what you, i bet some of your most favorite musicians who you think only do it for music are really just doing it for the money(or maybe once did it for the music...but now its the opposite). Sometimes its just how the world works. But that's not going to stop me from liking their music, if i like the way something sounds then i like it. I'm not going to make up some excuse about how its wrong to buy this person music because it isn't pure or doesn't have respect.

You're right about that. I should say, that if it doesn't make money, we don't get to hear it. Money doesn't make something inherently bad. My opinion is that I don't think it will be any good because of my opinion of the Estate. Past "experience" from what we have seen of them thus far. If it's good, it is. I don't personally think someone should'nt buy it if it is. I just don't EXPECT it to be good, or worthy of release or of great value.

Buxom
Hopefully it won't turn out like Joey Ramone's (or not) "Ya Know..?" It's more sad because it wasn't really him.

At the same time as this announcement was made, Experience Hendrix announced a range of Hendrix-styled clothing. Over the years, they have marketed Hendrix golf umbrellas, Hendrix Xmas tree baubles, and poker chips....(IMO) none of which had anything to do with J.M.H. And then there was the 'Axis Bold as Love' bedspread!!

pippy
I was Hoovering up every 12" album by Hendrix I could find from around 1972-on. Almost all non-official albums were produced from crappy amateur recordings (some are actually pretty good). A few years afterwards, I had found between 50 - 60 records in various Scottish s/h record and junk shops. I then read that the 'Estate' had discovered somewhere in the region of 2,000 hours of tapes made by Hendrix - almost all of which were probably experimental - that they had yet to listen to. At that moment I pretty much gave up trying to assemble a 'Complete Hendrix Collection'...lol! Some albums, of course, were released pretty soon afterwards - such as Crash Landing. The rest were clearly going to dribble out until the End of Time. I agree that seeing sketches of an artist's 'work in progress' can be very interesting in itself but to put the albums out as the work of Jimi Hendrix is deception - pure and simple. IMHO, of course. btoth76
I know many of You will throw stones at me. My favorite album from "Him" is the "Midnight Lightning". Who's been playing guitar on that one? Jeff Mironov - if I am correct...

Who's been playing guitar on that one? Jeff Mironov - if I am correct... Yes, although it was obviously in addition to the other guitarist's input on the album.......lol! There were many albums that came out at around that time with no - or else very little - input from any of 'The Experience'. I've got loads of them.... Another from that time (which I actually sort-of-quite-like) was Loose Ends. I've been told that it's release was banned in the States as it was so inferior to the rest of Hendrix' releases but we in Europe could get it......Anyone Stateside who can confirm or deny this? My elder brother had another obscure Hendrix album that I've been unable to track down which had an exquisite instrumental version of '(Have you ever been to) Electric Ladyland'. I've heard a few other versions but never the exact same one as he had on that (now lost) disc. P.
