Tman
Wrote a countryish song on my J-200 and recorded it on Logic pro. Used a Fishman Aura preamp and it really makes it sound like a J-200! About a guy drivin across country to see his woman. F bomb at about 58 seconds so beware. Also a few timing issues. I thought after recording to a click track that everything was hunky dory but sounds to me like I got off just a hair. Vocals ain't great either. http://soundcloud.com/zebramanster/itm-vocals/s-oGlRa
merseybeat1963
Pretty nice..if you can get a singer with great lows to sing it , it can be a nice little cash cow. That Scotty McReery or George Jones have that money makin country voice. If it was down to me producin it Id have a Rickenbacker 12 string come in halfway & some firepower drummer do his thing : )

I can actually change the drums pretty easily to help build the energy. Gotta practice Mah Sangin, I agree. Well done Tman J200 sounds great! Thanks Motherofpearl! I love the J-200, it's become surgically implanted on me nowadays.

flatbaroque
Good song Mr T. Nice to hear a J-200 on the board.Don't seems to get as many posts of that big boy-certainly sounds fine in those opening bars.Smooth production and nothing wrong with vocals at all. Well done. Thanks FB. I had about 10 different "images" I could use on the preamp. The one I chose sounded the most like the native J-200 so I went with it. Something about that maple on that big ole girl that just does it for me.
blindboygrunt
'life keeps throwin curves at me' really well phrased line ... but my favourite is 'red bull and hiatt ' you have somethin there my friend ... its a talent to pick simple lyrics that dont sound simple .... if i'm making sense a song that is as cliched as driving many miles to be with a love that doesnt sound cliched is a hell of a feat .. bravo !! really liked that

The guitar of yours has that great articulation and balance of the Maple. The highs glistened and the bass wasn't muddy. I am now going to invest in a pre amp and something other than the macbook pro and ONE digital mic and garage band. Your song encourages me to go get some tunes recorded. Nice tune my friend. Thanks 88! Would love to hear them - go for it. I used a Duet2 which is really close to a ONE and an iMac so probably the same as your MacBook pro. Logic is fairly cheap these days. It is a steep learning curve for me but fun and exciting. I recommend the tutorial series on logic available out there. Time consuming and worth it. All of my friends are doing facebook and fantasy football and I'm the nerd learning Logic pro.

Let them do fantasy football and TV while we make some tasty tunes. I started writing 3 years ago and now have 25 songs. Of which, 6 of them are realy pretty nice. SO Logic is the better way? I could believe it. The garage band acoustic recordings with my Gibson J45 rosewood and other acoustics came out OK but not the greatest. If you recorded that with your DUET and no mic pre straight in then I will have to get out the gear again and try different mic placement and rooms. There is a 4 day songwriting camp in Cambria CA that I will be attending. I also have 2 writer class and song circles that I frequent. The guitar part comes easy but vocally matching where I want my melody to soar up an octave can be rough.

I did use the fishman aura spectrum preamp where they did the micing on $10,000 mics for you and you dial in how much of the "image" you want to use. I chose the J-200 mic'ed by a Neuman and it sounded good to my ears. Also autotune for vocals is good. I know what you're thinking but if you use the graphic mode and do the "make notes" function it really makes pitch corrections well without sounding like Cher. I tend to go a bit sharp and it corrected it fairly well. Good luck with it, like I said it's been a steep learning curve but really fun and interesting. WOuld love to hear the songs!
