drathbun
My main guitar shop here in Calgary in the mid-town Long & McQuade. They just packed up and moved 1000 yards down the street last month so I went over yesterday to take a look at the new store. There were three or four Gibsons with an orange glow like burst finish. The TRC said "Limited". One of them had parallelogram markers but there rest had dots. All of them had mahogany back, sides, neck and a rosewood board. I played one with the dots for about an hour and it was a remarkable instrument both strummed and finger picked. I finally looked at the label and noticed it was a Songwriter. It was every bit as remarkable as my Songwriter Deluxe but with the HOG back and sides, had a good deal of sparkle. I can't see any example of this guitar on the Gibson site but I suspect it is the Songwriter Mahogany with a special finish? Oh yeah, and it had vintage open back tuners like mini Wilkinsons. Wouldnt that essentially then be the same as a HB Pro or Artist ? They basically have the Songwriter design but with mahogany b/s..
Mr Moto
That was my thought, exactly. I play an HB Artist which is basically a Songwriter with Mahogany B&S. It even has a sort of "orange glow" burst finish that may be the same thing also.
chasAK
I suspect the HB Pro would be basically the same thing at a more economical price. chasAK
