coreblade
I have bought a great Explorer of the 80 Designer Series. There are not many informations in the net about this rare guitar. Who knows the type of wood? Who knows how many were built? I want to know everything about it!
rct
Alder, not many, not much to know. They are rare perhaps not for a good reason. Didn't go over big at all, I never knew anyone that bought one then. I recall two of them I tried. Good luck with it, play it a long time in good health! rct
mosquito3
Gibson used every combination of woods on these early '80s Explorers. You could have mahogany or alder body (you should check pots cavity), mahogany or maple neck. Fretboard is definitely rosewood :) Bye!
