White or orange/red label inside guitar - any significance?

Hi,

Sorry if this is a newb question, but looking and playing various acoustic Gibsons I've noticed some have white labels that you can see through the sound hole and some have orange/red... Both have the model name and the serial number, etc, but I just wondered if the specific colour signified anything?

Thanks,

I think the white labels are for the Modern Classic series and the orange is for True Vintage. That MAY be the case and if so, it's only true for the past couple years. Prior to that most were orange, at least back through the 90s. Some of the 100th year ones (1994) had a different label, Nashville had a different label, Norlin had a diffeent label..... a good article could be written about the labels over the years!

That old manky label just not doing it for you any more? No biggy, just contact these fellas and the inside of that old box will be just like new!

KSD - Seriously, those pictures are like opening an old photo album, I never thought I'd be interested in the labels on the inside of a guitar when I started playing!

A real treat for us newbies, great insight. Thanks!

Early Bozeman labels are white and usually offest, not directly under the soundhole. I don't know what year that changed.

Funny, my 1957 Gibson J 50 has no sticker in her...never did I was told. The serial number is stamped inside. Maybe they did have a sticker but fell off the oldies...not sure. You tell me.
