Say about 25%, on average.

Plus for us NY residents another almost 9% in sales tax. I have bought two new Martins and a New Goodall over the years from Stan. Always a pleasure to work with, but the sales tax thing just annoys me. I'd rather buy privately and spend it on shipping or drive. You can go a long way on $180. and that's just the tax on $2000 or so. I'd love to have that J45 Legend, but the tax on his asking price would be about $366. That combined with the inflated price puts it out of reach for me. I don't mind spending $ but I don't like spending extra $ for no perceived value.

I didn't look at the prices! I admit I was looking at the pictures...

BUT

All those whining about the prices I hereby sentence to live in London:

And that's Pounds in the price, not US Dollars!

Or worse, sentenced to live in Australia where the guitar shop sales formula is something like:

"Think of a number and triple it!"

On some of the more recent used ones, the prices were higher than new! Were they not?

Looking at some of the new ones, the prices/discounts weren't all that great either.

In light of that, here's my thoery: these are all ASKING prices. I would bet "asking" them for a better price results in a sale, and they problably sell most of the time at better prices.

I think what they have "list"-ed on the used Gibsons there are problably the highest asking price they could get away with, but not the selling price.
