Del Nilppeznaf
Man this place is a hoot sometimes isn't it !!!! While a recent thread concerning what bleedin strings hurt your fingers and Gay Martin guitars gets over 2000 views and 6 pages of replies. A current thread by a member offering a FREE ( You can choose to pay a donation also..and it goes to a good cause..see moej45's thread ) download of their own, what has to be said is a feckin excellent, original album; gets just over 100 views..and 2 members replies..!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok maybe the title of the thread didn't get your interest..DOES THIS ONE ????? for a board celebrating Gibson Guitars...supposedly populated by musicians ( one would hope !! ) I find this bloody ridiculous. Do your selves a favour and check out moej45 thread 'Available for download' in can't you can't be bothered simply click the link below http://americanthread.bandcamp.com/ This is some of the best music I have ever seen posted on here... and is a very finely produced..authentic and great sounding Album.. by a board member. It deserves some support guys. ( I have no affiliation what so ever with Moe..and I hope he doesn't mind me posting this )
ParlourMan
All comes across like a telling off, Delboy... how thoroughly in-character of you. It's a discussion forum, if people want to chat about randy Martin's they're going to. You're hardly innocent on the bizarre front yourself with your freezing water crystals and how much 'love lift us up where we belong' it had been listening to before a freezing-crystal-o-metre was used to scientifically say that the gay water who watched chick flicks was much nicer water... and it would remember yer birthday and join you in dance class. etc etc... I might agree with the sentiments of yer post, I certainly would urge people to get a look at Moe's music but do you always need a chastising tone? Ye must be a real pleasure to be around, Del, haw haw. Live & let live...
blindboygrunt
ah now PM i had a bit of a rant myself ... :) i dont expect , and certainly dont want for that matter , an end to string choice discussions and what colour car should i buy to improve my barre chord technique .... but the music is good enough not to be ignored ... i understand del's bewilderment and to be fair to the man he does live in the hills of ireland drinking flagons of wine and wearing hats to keep the vampires away :D would make the best of us edgy !! ParlourMan
Should come as no real surprise, guitar forums typically draw a medium response when original music is posted if you compare it with threads on the less tangible stuff. People would rather talk strings, specs, picks & tricks than most other subjects, even to the point of pondering the romantic gestures of their hard wood pieces when there's no one at home and the lights are out. i understand del's bewilderment and to be fair to the man he does live in the hills of ireland drinking flagons of wine and wearing hats to keep the vampires away :D flagons of wine? I suppose the DT's will be handy for his vibrato (and here he insinuated I had booze problems too, must be on those trains I don't ride on), we'll need to have a whip round to get Del a pot-kettle hat, in black of course... now, did the Edge ever wear one of those? Maybe he would if he eventually found what he was looking for.

Members excuse the OP if you find the tone a little brittle. I just think there has been so much nonsense posted here of late...and the amount of What String choice has become beyond a joke. When the likes of the thread I mentioned gets that much attention..and others.. I feel it just puts serious folk who might enjoy this forum.. right off it ! I know it's a guitar forum..and I am but one member.. like all forums I suppose there is a core of regular posters who form a sort of community. I would suppose I am one..as i post often enough I enjoy the other members posts here and one of the reasons i stick around is because I think it may be different from other guitar forums ? I'm sure if I start arguing with Pm..start mentioning some political views..and proclaim that my guitar sounds better after I take it for a drive..this thread will get plenty more views but i can't be arsed :) Heres to Great Guitars and Great Music Peace
ParlourMan
thanks for the kind words as always. No problem sweetheart xx Heres to Great Guitars and Great Music Peace Have you been drinking, Derek? Jesus wept man, it's only just gone 9 where you are.... :D :D Jokes aside, of course the community stuff can verge on the hilarious and the ridiculous, often in the same thread, however the community stuff is the life blood of the forum, without the regulars and the community stuff, it would be a Q&A page that not too many people viewed because there would be little action.. I mean just how much can you talk about bracing patterns, Ren, which picks give you more gibson tone in your mind but is of indiscernible difference to your audience, how many gibsons do you have, 5, no 4, I'm 8, I'm 12 lets take our clothes off and hit the showers I've got a ruler... Guitar forums boil down to community, if they didn't every guitar forum would have one single post: Stop looking for vaguely related guitar stuff to throw your time away on, you already have a guitar don't you? If you want to be decent at guitar go play it, don't gossip about it.
drathbun
I wonder if I'd get flamed for mentioning that there has been a "sticky" for acoustic performances for quite a while. Of course, since that sticky was created (I assume to keep people's posts with their own music OUT of the main acoustic forum) there has been decidedly less feedback on music submissions. Those that ignore the sticky seem to get more response (17 responses and a dedicated rant thread in two days - not bad). This reminds me of the BeatGearCavern forum's subforum "Listen To Me" in which very very few members actually listen to the submissions. At least the feedback here is "good job" and "keep it coming" rather than the stock BGC response of "sounds like crap" and "have you thought of taking up country music"? Motherofpearl
I've been told. Never seen the thread I don't think. Either way ill check it out. But regardless of that what's the issue of someone asking advice from another member? Strings guitars whatever. We all came here for the same reason because we love and play gibson acoustics. I personally don't judge anybody for asking any questions that's how you learn. Myself I don't claim to know everything not will I ever. I follow this forum because its a group of people with the same interests as me that have been around a lot longer and have probably been there and done that. Anyway carry on
onewilyfool
I kind of like the eclectic nature of our beloved forum...I used to post "Ugliest Guitars" series, until some of the "only a Gibson is good enough" forumites got their panties in a twist.....it was done all in jest and good fun, but I stopped to avoid conflict......but really, here you post..... and you get what you get, sometimes you get a lot of responses, sometimes none....the Lord giveth and taketh away.....take your lumps and move on.......no bid deal......
