Thundergod Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Anyone knows exactly how many "blue sparkle" guitars the custom shop pulled out in 2008? (if any) I am looking for a guitar in that finish and, never hoped to find a gibson custom shop with it. I was looking on ebay and found 2, new 2008 gibson custom blue sparkle guitars... Should I ask this in the "gibson custom" section? http://cgi.ebay.com/2008-Gibson-Les-Paul-Standard-BLUE-Sparkle-Custom-Shop_W0QQitemZ200255147306QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item200255147306&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50 http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-2008-Les-Paul-Blue-Sparkle-MINT-OHSC-COA-etc-222_W0QQitemZ180308676339QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item180308676339&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
Homz Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I didn't even know they made sparkle guitars. Perhaps you would like the Gecko in sparkle.
Thundergod Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 FIXED THE SECOND LINK ...hm... the second link looks better (creme plastic instead of black...) but... it does say they will only ship using Japan (quote) "Shipping cost is $95 to just about anywhere by EMS JapanPost(if you are in South America or Africa please contact for a qoute as rates are more expensive). This is the only method we use. You don't need to worry about shipping from Japan!!! " BUT WTF!!! he is in the states... weird eh? I didnt know Gibson made blue sparkles either Homz! I actually want it to replace a guitar I had to sell a while ago... I liked her very much, was a cheap (but very good, actually great) DeArmond (pre fender) M75-t: completely solid mahogany body (wheighted a ton), 2 dearmond 2K pickups, bigsby trem, block pearloid inlays, huge headstock. Great tone and sustain, and I got her for 250 bucks... sold her for 700, now the bastard wont take his 700 back... not even 800! Pic:
BIGBENDS Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I don't know how many they made, Thunder, but I see if I can find that info. for you. I'd seen them too and they caught my eye. I thought I was the only one with such strange taste in colors with my Aged Pelham Blue "green". The blue sparkle probably looks amazing in the sun or bright lights!
Les Paul Fanatic Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Thunder, honestly somethin' about that guitar, especially the headstock, just don't sit well in my stomach, now it could just be me, generally if there is binding on the body, isn't the headstock also bound as well?
Thundergod Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 ...well, standards have binding on the body but not on the headstock. The pickups on the dearmond are dearmond made in USA 2K single coils... they sound something between a normal single coil and a p90 (IMO). Thanks BIGBENDS! hope you find something on them... Here's a pic of me playing her like 10 years ago (in front of 20.000 people, non of which were 3 legged chicks) and... OMG... look at the pic I found from the same ERA... (like my strap?)

BIGBENDS Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Sorry TG. So far I can't find a crumb on production #'s on the blue sparkle, but they sure are pretty. I've thought about getting one of those myself someday. I've never seen one around here. The closest shop with one in stock, actually it's a blueburst sparkle, is 6 hours away. (hmmm. If I start driving now, I could have her home by morning.) LOL
Tim Plains Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Blue sparkles, eh? What's next for you, a trip to the Blue Oyster bar?
