You be the judge....is this guitar worth $4K??

I own that one. Its frickin' awesome. Well, OK, sort of. :-s

I went to the bi-annual Epiphone Yard Sale in October and they sold eight of those, with no hardware on them at all, because of some minor finish flaw, for $100.00 each with no case, just the finished neck and body ready to be dressed out. The one I got was put in that pile because the front pickup was originally put on just slightly not-straight. Its hard to look and notice. I spent another $320 on parts, including some awesome Kent Armstrong chrome P-90s and all of the other hardware that goes on these and have one now for $420 that just sings. Something tells me Lennon would like that number I spent on it.

Yeah, I think the guy posting that is just wishful thinking facing hard times in a down economy. He might get $2k for it with the case if its mint and if he's lucky, on eBay. $4000? It ain't gonna happen.

A word about these guitars, heck ANY ES style, what a pain in the rump to put together. OMG, it took several tries and hours and hours of trial and error to fish all the parts around through the F-holes. I tried using guitar strings, fishing line, all kinds of things to pull everything into place. In the end, I got it together but not before the rear pickup came unsoldered, at which point I said, "Screeeeeeeewwwwww it. I'll play with the front one until I get around to having somebody who knows what they are doing take it apart and put it back together right."

Until then, wow, this baby even with just the front P-90, HONKS! The neck is sweet, the nitro finish is lovely and I so prefer the feel of it under my left hand than poly. I can feel the difference, its night and day to me.

I also bought five Epiphone tube amps at the yard sale. They all actually work. You take your chances when you buy them. I bought the 4-12 cab and tube head designed by Soldano, the Blues Custom 212, two Valve Sr models and another Valve Jr. I total with tax I left there spending $678.00.

I think it's this one' date=' right?:

A few years ago I was in the market for a new electric, and I was interested in this one. Problem is that not single shop in town, and there are at least 10-15 decent ones, had one I could actually see, pick up, and play. To this day I have never seen an Epi Elitist in any model.

In the end I settled on a Gibson ES-333, which I had to back order from the shop I was dealing with. I waited more than 6 mos to learn in the end that Gibson had decided to discontinue the 333. Took me a couple more months to get my deposit back. A major drag on all accounts!

Actually, he's a couple weeks early to get the 'stupid money' as KSDADDY puts it. A little closer to Christmas and Mummsy or Daddy are desperate to get the guit tar Johnny's been whining and cutting his wrists for since July 4. They will believe anything, might pay anything just to get the axe in house before Dec 24.

WOW!! You are definitely getting ripped off!!!!!! I didn't think that guitar looked like a good bargain and then i scrolled down........ HOLY CRAP!!! oh wow... sorry i've just never seen any one try to get that much for an epi. $1500 sounds reasonable for a john lennon signature even though its an epi.

Personally, I like the Revolution Casino (which is the one with the paint stripped off it). Epiphone did a good job with it as far as the details go and it plays so easy and sweet. Even unplugged it's a compelling instrument to pick up and noodle on.

Does anybody know definitively where the Revolution Casinos are manufactured? The guitar shipped with a sticker that says assembled in the USA. Does that mean they made the parts in like, China?

It is a bit much to spent $2500+ on this guitar unless you just love John Lennon. Even then, I ended up getting mine for about $1800.

They are made in Japan' date=' not China, and then completely assembled here in Nashville. I love my Casino. They had a couple of the body/neck combos at the yard sale too, but they got snapped up fast. Man, just sitting around playing this thing unplugged is really nice.[/quote']

Thanks for the info, Mike. Can I come with you to the next yard sale? It's a long plane ride from LA, but I do love me some Epiphones! (and I buy good drinks...:))

Funny story about the Revolution Casino...the first one I got shipped to me arrived with the headstock literally snapped in two. At first I pulled back the shroud on the body and saw the strings all over the place and thought "oh, how nice, they completely loosened the strings for shipment...nice touch." Then I pulled it back the rest of the way and saw she was gone. It's like the headstock snapped horizontally right above the truss rod. Not a mark on the cardboard box or the case or the guitar.

After I got done having my heart attack, the company that shipped it to me replaced it, but it sure was a sad thing to see...

:-({|=
