Ozgur
Hello all, Actually I'm a Stratocaster fan and I have 2 MIA Strats. A few days ago I purchased a sezonda hand SG which was black. İt has stock pickups which are not powerful enough for me. I mostly play new wave of british heavy metal and I want to change these pickups with Seymour Duncan JB ( SH-4 ) for the bridge and Jazz ( SH-2n ) for the neck position. I like to get sound like Judas Priest, early Ozzy ( Bark at the moon ) and something like this. Could you please recommend alternative options ? Would you recommend Dimarzio set ? Thanks in advance
Cú Chulainn
firstly, what amp are you playing through and have you tried to turn the knobs? in most cases, desired sound can be achieved by turning the amps knobs
Ozgur
firstly, what amp are you playing through and have you tried to turn the knobs? in most cases, desired sound can be achieved by turning the amps knobs My amp is Blackstar HT-20 Studio Combo. Don't worry about that, I've tried to turn the knobs. By the way, I'm using MXR GT-OD to boost my amp.
Dallastx
Kinda different with hummers. The stronger the p/u isn't always the best tone. I have stock p/us on my SG and they sound perfect. With the singles, the hotter the p/u. I have a Super Disortion in the bridge of my LP and it is muddy. Billy Gibbons guita p/us are weak.. DestructorsKillMusic1982
I recently put together an SG Special with that exact pickup combo (JB in the bridge, Jazz in the neck) and I love it, one of the smoothest sounding guitars I have. (It also has an ebony fretboard which makes it even smoother to play.) It sounds powerful on the bridge pickup, bluesy on the neck, and the JB seems alot quieter as far as extraneous noise and more defined than the Duncan Invader in my Sonex (more similar to the SD Custom 5 in the bridge of my black LP Studio.) Guest EastEnder
At my place we call this the Death Machine. Bartolini PBF-55 in neck position and PBF-77D in bridge. Great pickups when you can find them...
