zombywoof
Yowzahhh - it be a snow day. I have gone through change after change in my more than 60 years on This Mortal Coil but snow days still bring as much a smile to my face as they did when I was a kid. There is not really alot of snow out there but it is sitting atop a thick layer of ice and the 45 mph winds caused nearly white out conditions earlier. Might just be a good day to pull the old Gibson out and work on some new tune. The question is what. My LG-2 is sitting here in Drop D tuning as I have been on a "Big Road Blues" jag this week so "Dear Prudence" might be a fun change of pace. Then again I have been hankering to work out a new arrangement of "Statesboro Blues" in that tuning. So anybody got any suggestions for a fun song in Drop D? j45nick
any hope of a white christmas this year ? Well, we can always have a white Christmas here in Florida. All I have to do is drive five minutes to the snowy white beach, where I'll be circled by the circus sands, dancing beneath the diamond sky, far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow....... BluesKing777
Obvious one would be the RJ "Dust My Broom', Neil's "Old Guitar" and folky 'Delia's Gone'? But if you haven't seen it before, here is an absolute treat in Dropped D: Stefan Grossman shows semi-improvised licks/patterns in Dropped D - I would say they are derived from Lonnie Johnson..... zombywoof
Obvious one would be the RJ "Dust My Broom', Neil's "Old Guitar" and folky 'Delia's Gone'? I have always played Johnson's Dust My Broom as well as Phonograph Blues with both E strings tuned down to D. It might be interesting though to see what they would sound like with the high E tuned back up.
aerohead
Then again I have been hankering to work out a new arrangement of "Statesboro Blues" in that tuning. Love that tune and if you get it worked out it would be great to hear it! Would you be using the slide on that one? Neil's Harvest Moon is a good one in drop D.
