duluthdan
This song was written by my friend, guitarist Steve Weisberg, and recorded by he and John Denver. I've never been able to follow the way he plays it, and he stopped by my office one day and showed me how. I still can't do it, can't use the little finger on my left hand, so I've had to adapt. Thanks for enduring. I hope my 96 year old father enjoys it.

flatbaroque
Brilliant Dan. I love a good cowboy song...and that one's a ripper. Some beautiful little guitar passages.Your vocals are sounding great on this.Actual recording and visuals were ace too. Canny the way you hid your left hand with the other guitar headstock to keep us guessing on some of those slightly diminished? sounding chord shapes. Red 333
I bet your Dad will love it, Dan. Beautifully done all around (though you are being a grinch by hiding that fret hand!). Maybe your New Year's resolution can be to show us how you played it. Merry Christmas. Red

jt
Very nice! Thanks for sharing this. I grew up on a ranch in southern Arizona, near the Mexican border. This song really connected with me.
MissouriPicker
Lots of good music being shared on this site, and this is some of it. That was a real good job, and very easy-on-the-ears. For me, part of good music is wanting to listen to a song even if it's not the kind of music you typically are drawn to. Even if I didn't like folk/cowboy kind of music, I could listen to this song and the singer. Real gentle.

Smurfbird
Great performance! If you had albums of your singing and playing in that low-key manner, I would be a collector. The headstock-block is hilarious.
