Is That A Gift For Me?

That was generous of EA to send that all the way from Adelaide!......

Ha Ha!

EA just choked on his Coopers Ale or whatever they drink on the Murray! It is currently 104 degrees there as we speak! Same here.

Guitar is pictured far away because it is actually a Gibsung Hongbird Fake Hummer direct from Suan Cheng or somewhere!

My New Beater! It is my 'Outside Guitar'. 104 degrees here at the moment and the Gibsons are staying in their cases.....

(I had a good set of Grover Tuning Machines put on - the originals were upside down and the wrong way around! Then I put an old DeArmond pickup in it and it rocks! I sound more like Lighning than Lightnin and almost like T-Bone........)

Here is a quick test recording from my Zoom H1 of my new Xmas prezzie - the Gibsun Humsong.

A solo blues fingerpicking version of Lightnin Hopkins' "Lonesome Road Blues"

Sounds darn good to me for a Gibby knock off. I also had one and while she was a bit harsh and bright as a strummer she sounded purdy fingerpicked .... except I couldnt fingerpick at al l back then .....

Good stuff there BK !

Thanks guys...

We are on dangerous ground here justifyin' the harem of Gibsons while we have a perfectly serviceable and playable guitar still under the magic spell created by luthier James Cargill (magic which unfortunately does wear off after a few months), so I must point out the hollow mids the Gibsung produces..........I would be terribly disappointed if my new real Gibson had some of this guitar's quirks that I am still exploring. Phew! How's that? And an awful Wolf Note 12the fret 4th string - a real 'dunk' note.

I have no idea what wood we are playing, but I did get the Tuning Machines changed to Grover Deluxe Kluson copies and they are really good machines - the old ones were a disgrace where about 40 turns were needed to tighten a string a touch. I picked black finish because I don't think they could have done the Cherry Burst even as good as EA's Ibanez Copy above, but I can't get my mirror in the sound hole properly with the DeArmond pickup there. Is there such as thing as Chinese Mahogany and Chinese Spruce?

(I skip the Xmas dinner because of huge fights with relatives a couple of years back and unfortunately have been left alone to play and record my new Xmas prezzie guitar.....shucks.....but I do hope I get some leftovers....)
