rocknroller
Hi all, I'm looking to buy an SG at GC. They have a vintage 1976 Standard in great condition for $1,499. It was owned by a studio musician so other than a nicely faded walnut finish on the body and neck, there are no dings, scratches, or buckle rash. I played it the other day through an Orange Rockerverb and it really sounded great. the guitar is very solid and there are no problems with the neck. It is also set up to perfection. The one thing that really surprised me though is the weight of the guitar. It has to be around 8-9 lbs. I'm trying to decide on this one versus a new Standard. Anyone have any insights about the quality and value of mid-70's SGs? I'm doing some research regarding the pickups and bridge nad have seen some comments about being cautious of these Norlin era guitars from the 70's -80's. Any feedback would be appreciated. sellen
well if it felt rock solid after 37 years, it has to be good. If it felt and sounded good go for the '76. It's a fair prize
