duluthdan
This 1942 Banner J45 has a pickguard on it described as unique to the J55. Is this possible? Or perhaps it was an option? How likely is it that for whatever reason, this might be a replacement? If you ever get to the Bluegrass festival in Telluride, Colorado - this shop is a must see. http://www.gbase.com/gear/gibson-j-45-1942-sunburst-

jt
It's difficult to tell from the pics but my best gues is that it is original: it looks to be under the original finish (as would have been customary). That pick guard graced both the J-55 and the SJ-100: That J-45 , though, looks more like a 1943 model.
