wyldecane
My wife bought me my first Gibson guitar for Christmas. The paint is chipped on the edges and the store told her that was the way the guitar was suppose to be. Here are pictures!!! https://picasaweb.google.com/112680720123780457818/LesPaul?authkey=Gv1sRgCOCL9eOel_PKlQE Can you guys confirm/deny the store's claim? Thanks... pippy
....The paint is chipped on the edges and the store told her that was the way the guitar was suppose to be... There are some LPs which come with a certain amount of wear but, IMHO, that just looks like it's been chipped by clumsy 'players' or staff... P. AXE®
That model was not available in "aged". Let me guess. Guitar Center?

P. I agree, with Pippy. But, it's Easy enough to fix, though. And, with the thin finish that the "Tributes" have...you'll probably do even more, just playing it! No biggie... really...it gives it "character!" And, it's true...some of those first ones, that Gibson shipped, WERE "slightly relic'd," anyway. So...I guess it's up to you, as to if it bothers you, enough, to return it? Enjoy! CB
wyldecane
Thanks for the feedback... Yes, it is from Guitar Center... I think I will return it... I understand the character aspect, but would like for it to be my character marks!
charlie brown
Yeah, especially, if you wife paid GC's full price, for a "shop worn," instrument! I'd probably take it back, too. If they don't have another (new, in the box) one, you can always ask for a fair/decent discount, on the one you have. Good Luck, whatever you decide. Some of those tributes are intentionally aged: http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/products/108410357.php?CategoryID=345&n=22 I remember seeing this on the first run of '50 tributes some year ago; they were worn also along the neck. wyldecane
Have you read my previous post? I did, but fading was not the problem. If you look at the pictures the paint was chipped off from someone banging the guitar into something. I actually looked at several guitars there today and the ones close to the ground had chipping as well. I asked the associate to get one from high up on the wall and he nearly dropped it... At that point I was done... just asked for a refund.
