LarryUK Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 My Jack Russel (Pip) got out this morning when I opened my front door. He dashed across the road and got hit by a car. He went under the front and came out the back. I automatically thought he was dead, but he's ok. He's been at the vets all day. But a few cuts, a bad graze to his head and Some aches and pains are all he's got. He's really lucky. The other two (pictured)have been moping around all day looking for him. They're really pleased to have him back (so am I). It's been a stressful day. But a happy end.
Namvet Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Glad to hear he's OK. People become very attached to pets and they can be like children, giving you undying love and devotion.
ShredAstaire Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 SO glad to hear he's ok lashurst! I can't imagine what went through your head at that moment. So scary!
brad1 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Wow, that was a close call. Glad he's doing well.
DanvillRob Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 So sorry to hear about this..... being a Jack Russell, he'll do it again given the chance.... Â Be careful... glad he's okay.
Rabs Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Yeah man.. glad for you hes ok.. I know only too well the bond between a man and his pet. Â I cant even imagine how seeing that would make me feel. Â Â I wish a speedy recovery to Pip :)
BigKahune Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 . Sorry to read about your stressful day. Very scary watching your pet go under a moving vehicle. Â Glad to see Pip is okay. Â Â .
Sinner 13 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Glad he is Okay, short of the bumps and bruises. the thought of losing one of our "children" is terrifying to think about, let alone to possibly witness it first hand. Â Â I have an indoor cat, and occasionally she'll hide out in a closet, or drawer. I about lose my sh!t when I think she has gotten out. Â hope the rest of your day is stress free.
ksdaddy Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Poor little guy. Hope he feels better soon.
Guest Farnsbarns Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Christ, that must have been awful to see. Glad he's ok. Mine ran once when her collar broke and she wanted to follow the wife to the supermarket. Scary half hour.
Izzy Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Damn dogs, giving us heart attacks all the time! Attached as I am to my dog, I know I'd have been scared and crying at the vet's. Â Glad nothing bad happened. Bet he was scared out his mind. Bet he runs out again too.
Twiz Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Those little dogs are firecrackers for sure. -And tough. I remember when I was in high school, fishing with some friends, my friend's Jack Russel brought back a live (and very angry) groundhog. Getting him to let go of the groundhog took 3 people. I'm glad your dog is ok!
jaxson50 Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Great news that your dog is OK! We have a young Terrier and he is faster then greased lightning. I dread him getting loose.
PingPongBob Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Oh my. Poor guy. Thank goodness he's is okay. Cheers for Pip!!!
EVOL! Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Glad to hear he's not seriously hurt. That is scary.
bonzoboy Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I can imagine the horror that you felt when the car hit your dog.I'm really glad that he came through it relatively unscathed when compared to what the outcome could've been.
rocketman Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I told my wife before we good married two things: 1) no dogs, and 2) you marry me and you marry my Greek family too (this is well before My Big Fat Greek Wedding came out). It took many years of convincing but I finally got a dog for the family. I went from "no dogs" to absolutely loving that little guy. I can't imagine the feelings you went through today but I'm glad he's fine. Â We have an electric dog fence at our house and he knows his boundaries well. I put one in at our cottage but he didn't learn his boundaries there this summer. He ran through it a few times, but at least he didn't end up in the lake!
retrosurfer1959 Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Like others glad he's ok. Jack Russels are silly little mutts more courage than a lion but I'm not always sure about brains. there holy terrors when they get something into there minds. Ours finally learned not to run I think because my wife just says goodbye and closes the door behind him. Luckily the few times he's taken off he comes home or the neighbors find him and send him home. he's even worse at the cabin he loves to chase squirrels, rabbits anything that will run but he's not quite smart enough to have learned about skunks yet sadly although he's gotten pretty careful when something doesn't run hopefully this summer we won't have any more tomato baths. Â Glad you pups ok cars almost always win in a dog fight.
Bender 4 Life Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 beautiful "fur-kids" you have.....glad Pip wasn't seriously injured, but don't be shocked if it causes him arthritis later. we once saw our Sharpei/Mastiff mix "Caesar" be run over by a cars front wheel, sucked up into the rear of the fender-well, then spat out the front after making a 3/4 revolution around the tire....like Pip, he had no broken bones, and only a few cuts, but he never left our yard again unless he was IN a vehicle. I still remember the terror that gripped me when I saw him get ran over....yes, we LOVE our k-9 kids like family, because they ARE family....and are chosen members at that! nurse-maid Mr.Pip for a few days...I imagine he needs it, and I know he'll appreciate it.
CindyC Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Poor puppy! My property sides a busier than I'd like road, I am always scared my golden or cavalier may get out and into traffic by accident. Glad to hear your little guy didn't sustain too much injury and is home with his buddies. Looks like you got a late Xmas gift!
buliwyf Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Wow close call,I'm so relieved your boy is doing well. It,s amazing how attached we get to those furry parts of our family. We have 3 dogs and one of the reasons we did choose this home is the back yard is a acre and surrounded with a five foot fence.
Kaiser Bill Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 So very glad to hear you got your buddy back. My neighbor lost his puppy on Christmas day. I believe she (Matty) was 10. I hope your buddy makes a full recovery.
