Blonde Advanced Jumbo

they priced it at the normal advertised price for a new AJ. I certainly hope they are willing to negotiate! a very "pawn shop" move as far as I am concerned... and i hate to see that.

some stores still do it though. I know of a store that list used gear in an even worse manner. an example:

If they have a used J-45.... List price is 3165. MAP (the tag price you normally see) is 2449. on the used one they they have, the tag will say, "new list is 3165. Get this used one for 2600!" or something to that effect. LOL. I guess it must work sometimes because stores keep doing it. a bad move though IMHO. it's not 1990 anymore. People know better.

Grossly overpriced. I believe one of our members bought a pristine one of these at least year's Orlando show for about $1800.

Yup, nick, that was me. Mine's an 2001 in excellent+++ condition. Without a doubt the best AJ I have ever played. And you're right about the price, the guy was asking $1800 and I managed to get it for $1650. I've owned 3 or 4 AJ's and this is the only one I've kept, it's that good.

So, even taking in account that this is a store price, the guitar is way over-priced, IMHO....

Thanks, Joe, I'd forgotten it was you. This year's Orlando show is in 2 1/2 weeks (January 19-20, with trade only day on the 18th). It has a new venue this year, and I haven't checked exactly were it is.

I thought it was a very good show last year, but I haven't been to enough to know how it compares.

Wow, way overpriced! I was in Fuller's yesterday and I believe they had a brand new one that I bet you could get for a better price than this.

A few odd things in the description. Seems like the seller does not know the proper terminology for a few things and does not know how to date a Gibson guitar!

I'm gonna be in Fla again this winter but the week after the show. Too bad, I thought it was one of the best shows I've been to in quite a while. Guess I should have planned our trip south a little better.... [cursing]

I'm not diggin the blonde at all. It's a far cry from a beautifull Gibson sunburst. Come to think of it I've never seen a natural top Gibson I like except for a firebird custom.

I agree that no one makes a sunburst better than Gibson, but my plaintop is the best playing and sounding AJ that I have ever had, and, as I said, I've had a few. When I first saw it at the Orlando show last winter, I didn't realize that Gibson made any other than SB, I thought it was some other model that I hadn't seen. Obviously, when I looked at it closer, I knew that it was an AJ. Even in that crowded (and noisy) show I knew that this guitar was something special.

I can confirm that. I played that guitar earlier in the day, and was impressed by it. I wasn't looking for another slope jumbo that day, or I would have bought it.

I'm glad you passed on it, nick, it wouldn't be sitting in my guitar room now if you hadn't..... [biggrin]

I'm not taking anything away from a sunburst because I do love them myself. But when you get a blonde top I believe your getting the highest quality. You can hide flaws and such with a dark burst which you can't with a blonde top.

Either way I love both and it doesn't matter to me either way! Just a thought
