Paulocon Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Hi all, still awaiting to take delivery of my much anticipated and eagerly awaited Korean 'Epiphone Stratocaster' from the USA. When it finally arrives I would like to possibly update the electrics as I assume they will be a bit outdated etc. If anyone has modified an existing Epi Strat or has any possible suggestions to what might be good upgrades or improvements etc, that would be great!!! regards
bigneil Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 what model is it? happy new guitar day. when it comes to strats, I personally don't like the control lay out and usually end up with 1 master tone and one master volume in the spaces where the two tones normally go (more strumming room). I also tighten the springs up at the back to pull the bridge hard against the body if it has a classic 6 screw trem. Also I personally NEEEEEEEEED to have a humbucker on my guitar or i will die, so I usually turn it into an HSS pickup configuration. My first electric was an epiphone S200 HH strat, it had a crappy plywood body but the neck was really nice and comfy and easy to play. the electrics were pretty poor and I would think you may indeed want to "update" the pickups in your one if it is one of the lower spec models. here is my current cheapo frankenstrat.

Hi there, not quite sure what model it is...but from the research I thinks it's a FAT310 model with the 2 single coils and an Humbucker similar to yours etc. I don't have it yet so can't be more specific. But just wondered what pick ups have you put in yours and did you have to upgrade the electrics and is it generally a good player??? cheers
bigneil Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Cool, the HSS configuration should give you a versatile set of tones but if your pickups are anything like the ones I had on mine you probably will want to change them. I think they have nice necks. You should post up some pics when it arrives.
