MusashiChan Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Hi folks, The description of the new LP Traditional 2013 indicates that the mahogany body is NOT weight relieved = no swiss cheese but the Specs page indicates the old weight relieved grade A mahogany... So what ??? Swiss cheese or not ?
btoth76 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Hello! We've got it confirmed by the Customer Service, here at the Forums: 2013 Trads are solid. No chambers, no holes! Cheers... Bence
GibSinCity Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 So, the official Gibson page says weight-relieved, but someone here says "Solid"... Interesting. I thought that only historic reissues were solid. If this is true, we may need a new subsection in "Les Paul 101" http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Les-Paul-Traditional/Features.aspx "Body and Finish Crafted from a highly figured Grade-AA maple “plus top” and weight relieved Grade-A mahogany back in the image of the classic Les Paul Standard, these guitars are finished in traditional nitrocellulose lacquer in your choice of Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Desert Burst, Honey Burst, Ice Tea Burst, and Light Burst. For the player who wants a simpler look, Ebony and Gold Top finishes are also available. The guitar’s classic looks are further enhanced by vintage cream binding and transparent gold Speed Knobs."

Bence Hi, Thanks for the confirmation but on french boards, a lot of guys wants to have the source, do you have a topic or link o confirm that ? It's a major feature on this new model and they want to be sure... Thanks a lot !!!!
stein Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Just thought I would throw in this fact: Often when there is a spec change, it doesn't happen all at once. It isn't like all the guitars in the stores would magically turn from swiss-cheese to non swiss-cheese. But also, the production line doesn't always have a stopping point where all specs change all at the same time. So, they will obviously be now making them solid, but the ones with wieght-relief will still be finished and hit the stores. I don't have the answer as to what the exact cut-off is, but if CS says they will be making them solid, it means you can get it. And often times, those specs on the websites are to serve for dealers with existing invetories.
Guest Farnsbarns Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 The fact that people aren't sure, even after playing them, is evidence enough that it makes no difference at all.

Ryan H Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Took the liberty to email Customer Service. This is their reply. So they're solid, not weight relieved, and the "Features" page is just out-of-date. -Ryan
