OHSC J-45: with addendum

Is the OHSC for the current basic J-45 arch-topped or flat on top? If it is arch-topped now, in what year was that introduced? Were the cases that shipped with the mid 90s models arched or flat-topped?

I have found a wonderful 100th anniversary model ('94) that I intend to buy from the original owner. The case is a brown flat top hard case, with a script "Gibson "and smaller block lettered "Montana Fine Acoustic Guitars" appearing below the Gibson.

 

It's a perfectly fine case, but I was surprised that it was a flattop, as even my '99 wm-00 came with an archtopped case.

 

It seems gearbasher also had this case with his '94. Looks as though the anniversay model is a "case unto itself."

I had a '95 J-45 w/ brown arched case.

My '91 J-30 has the original brown arched hsc. The J45 probably took the same case.

My long gone '94 J-45 had a flat brown case. My '99 and '06 have arched black cases.

I can also confirm that they're arched on top, blue interior and has "Gibson Acoustic" screened onto the top/front of it. Don't know when they switched it up though sorry.

 

I tried to find a link to the actual exact case but i'm not having much luck. I'm pretty certain it's OEM'd from TKL though these days.. (4 clasps down the side, no combo lock, no clasps on the back etc...)

I'd like also to add that the interior of the case is purple and there is a good 3 inches of head room above the headstock as it lies in the case.

I have two 93 J-45s, and both came with brown flat top (TKL) cases. Not very hight quality, but fine for for most times.

That sounds like the exact case that came with my '94. No shroud BTW.

 

The funny thing is I have a '95 SJ-45 Deluxe that came with a brown arched top case w/a 100 year anniversary logo printed on the shroud.

Here is an old photo of my '94. The case is behind it and you can see the logo in the lower left hand corner. Hope this helps. Sorry for the bad scan, it's from a 35mm print.
