MissouriPicker Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Slide guitar is a lot of fun. Once you start, the fire is lit. And it sure makes those barre chords easy-to-play.
grampa Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Brilliant! Although his tone was more like a Renault than a Ferrari.
Dennis G Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 As a fan of both slide and F1, I really enjoyed that, but...someone has waaaaaaaaay too much time on his hands!
pippy Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I'd like to think he timed the lap and had written out the score for the performance! Great fun. I'll have to watch it again when I've time to waste as I didn't recognise the track... ....his tone was more like a Renault than a Ferrari.... And he'd even removed the low E string.....otherwise it would have sounded more like a Camaro..... P.
FirstMeasure Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Now that's taking Bad Motor Scooter to an whole new level! Slide Rules! ...heh

I remember hearing that during the filming of "Gran Prix" they put cameras in the footwell and filmed the driver's feet as he simulated driving various tracks and these drivers knew the course so well they could go through all the gear changes without being on the track.
Dennis G Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I'll have to watch it again when I've time to waste as I didn't recognise the track... I think the only two "current" F1 tracks run ACW that would come close to this are Turkey and Singapore. Lap times for Singapore are mid 1:40's, so that's out. Turkey's lap times are approx, but looking at a map while watching the video, they don't match. I'm thinking it may have been an interview with Fred using a compilation of tracks. Then again, I have no idea

I don't even recognise the view of the horizon never mind the track layout! I'd have thought topography like that would have stuck in the mind - flat-topped mountains and so forth - but I'm baffled. Perhaps a 'winter testing' circuit? Although the size of the grandstands suggests a main venue! P.

I'm pretty good at recognizing tracks (or bits and pieces thereof) from my years of racing, learning different tracks, looking for visual clues, etc. but this thing has me "perplexed" to say the least.
dem00n Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I think its a F1 track from the late 90's. No longer active i believe... I don't feel like doing a bunch of work to find it.
