OK, "tour" is a bit of an exaggeration. But, I really may be near your neighborhood in the forseable future. I'd love to meet, drink a brew or three, and pick a few tunes. I'll be traveling with my battered 1943 SJ whose original owner, a soldier, bought it new and took it to the European front. Both owner and guitar returned battle scarred, but stronger. You NEED to play this guitar!

Here's my itinerary so far, in reverse chronological order to make it difficult to decipher:

Saturday, May 25 & Sunday, May 26, 2013: The Acoustic Guitar Meeting in Sarzana, Italy. I'll be giving a book talk on the 25th and playing the main stage on the 26th.

May, 2013

Saturday, March 23, 2013: I'll be giving a book talk and doing some picking at the Kalamazoo Fretboard Festivalin, of course, Kalamazoo, MI, at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum, 230 North Rose Street

Saturday, February 16, 2013: Here’s the big one: Fretboard Journal sponsors a Kalamazoo Gals Festival in Seattle, WA. Great food and drink, great musicians (including some very famous surprises), RSVP here to get invitation and details.

Sunday, February 10, 2013: I'll be giving a book talk and doing some picking at 2:30 pm, Davis Auditorium of the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, 21 Edwards Street, Springfield, MA

Maybe (!?!) NAMM

Other events in the work: Bailey Brothers Music in Birmingham, AL, Nicholson Music in Folsom, CA, every guitar shop in Nashville, a book store and a guitar shop in NYC, The music Emporium near Boston, etc. Stay tuned.

My X-ray guitar art show will also be joining the tour of the National Guitar Museum and I'll be giving talks and doing some picking at each stop: The Springfield Museum / Springfield, MA: January 18 - April 21, 2013, The Museum Of Idaho / Idaho Falls, ID – Yellowstone: June 1 – November 30, 2013

The Fleet Center / San Diego, CA: December 2013 – March 2014, Liberty Science Center / Liberty State Park, NJ: October 2014 – January 2015

Imagination Station / Toledo, OH: February 2015 - May 2015, Discovery Place / Charlotte, NC: May 31, 2015 - September 2015

Lots of musicians and surprisingly!! people who read in my circle of friends. How many folks in attendance would interest you in doing personal presentations along the lines of a house concert/presentation/jam as you and perhaps Lauren travel on this tour?

I for one would provide lodging, food and libation along with a captive audience for a little "front porch pickin" if you were in the neighborhood.

I *love* that old SJ!

Hope to see you again, in Seattle, if all works out as planned, John!

Ah Man, that glimmer of hope that Jim Baggett's Mass Street Music in Lawrence, KS would be on the itinerary has been dashed.

What the heck, I wish ya all the best JT. It ain't all that often us Gibson freaks get a chance to get all worked up over a book. I kinda like the feeling.

I also am beginning to feel the excitement! Would love to get a chance to 'meet and greet' as the 'tour' develops. Will wait and see if it is 'doable' for me!

Cheers and congrats on the project coming togather...eusa_clap.gif

Very cool jt.

It appears that the Seattle gathering is the nearest planned stop in my neck of the woods. I'm not sure if I can swing a trip up that way, but I'll definitely send you a note if it looks like I would be able to attend.

If not, I'm hoping that I might be able to someday buy a copy of Kalamazoo Gals at Powell's Books here in Portland.

All the best,

Guth

JT - so no German dates ????

I'm certain that I'll organize something in Germany, shortly after the Festival in Italy. Stay tuned!

Please keep us posted on the forum. I would love to see you come to LI, or let us know when something is going on close.

John, if you end up in Folsom, I'd hope some of us would be able to make it by.....

Fred, if you put him up... maybe I can swing by.... we can do a 'mini-SANSJAM'!

Thanks, all!

I will be adding in dates. it now looks like I'll be in LA Feb. 12 and will be due in Seattle on Feb. 16. So, I'll try to work in an LA-area event.

Of course Prague would be an even better option, much prettier and beers on me ! :-)

Or come to Luxembourg, I'll buy you dinner, take you out and perhaps even arrange a gig for you should you fancy it.

Ok, I'll get you a hooker, superglue, some goats cheese & crackers and I'll even throw in my 2nd wife for the night, he's got a very well kept beard and sort of looks like Lemmy. Lovely fella...

I guarantee the hookers and beer are much better in Prague than in that little land of gremlins, goblins and evil bankers .. [biggrin]

Is there any possibility that you can convince your second wife to wax his face?

I'm up for anything. I'm going into Folsom this afternoon to talk to the folks at Nicholsons. It was my understanding that a contingent from Bozeman wanted to be there at the same time.

but there are some issues that need to be resolved before Nicholsons has a date for the grand opening.

Every traveling minstrel is welcome at this inn Robt. you know that.

Bob B will use any excuse......ANY..... to pick up a guitar and play and sing all day (and all of the night). He puts the Energizer bunny to shame. It's a wonder he isn't still out there performing to crowds (maybe opening for the Stones' proposed 2013-2014 "real" world tour).

I'm just waiting for him to post an acoustic version of "Baby what's New", played on the DIF.

That's Bob (DanvillRob) on bass in the video below. And in the pictures, of course.

You know me, Fred....I just need a plot of ground, some shade and a 20-amp circuit!

Anytime, don't even need to call ahead.

I can't believe that the folks at Gibson wouldn't fly you to Bozeman for the "Gibson Homecoming". It also boggles my mind that they wouldn't hire you as a consultant on their reissue guitars. What are they thinking? Since Ren left they have no one on their staff that has ever bought a Gibson guitar in a music store let alone knows anything about the historic models. I understand you have sent a couple of guitars to them but can't imagine why they wouldn't send you a plane ticket. Do you even want to come out to Bozeman? Is it a scheduling problem? I think I can get you a ticket.....
