Dave J Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 So a year ago I bought a Gibson Les Paul Studio in worn brown (with black bits and pieces). This is my go to guitar when it comes to feel and sound. But as we all know the worn colored studios are not sold for the aesthetics. I was really feeling the need to give it a bit of a visual vibe. So of I went to the music store and picked up cream replacement plastic. So this is how it looked when I first got the guitar. <a href="http://s879.beta.photobucket.com/user/SuperDave1970/media/GibsonLesPaul1.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab354/SuperDave1970/GibsonLesPaul1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a> And this is how it looks today. <a href="http://s879.beta.photobucket.com/user/SuperDave1970/media/studiolespaulA_zps4ae254c8.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab354/SuperDave1970/studiolespaulA_zps4ae254c8.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"/></a> I think it got that old school vibe. plus the tone and volume now go to 11!!!
Guest Farnsbarns Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Much better, I've always preferred cream plastic to black.
Dave J Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 Thank you for reposting those pics for me Farnsbarns, as I am not to swift with photo bucket ..... Davej
Izzy Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Interesting. I never realized it made a difference. It does. Are you gonna play infront of people, or something?
Dave J Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 It is more for myself, but I do use this guitar when I play on the worship team at church. This is something I started in the last year for two reasons. 1) to play in a group setting. 2) to play in front of people and face the fear of stage fright. Davej
pippy Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Izzy's right. It does make a difference. It's much more attractive with the cream accessories IMHO. Nice job, Dave. P.
Bender 4 Life Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 wow Dave, that IS an improvement! looks GREAT !! i'd have went with gold/chrome insert tophats, but that's just me. be proud to play that ANYWHERE !
Aster1 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Dave, That really does set the guitar off totally!! "I likes it!" Looks like a fun guitar to hang over the shoulder to me. Aster
LarryUK Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 That looks much better. On the subject of looks, Isn't it odd how a clean car drives better than a dirty one? If you're happier with the look, you WILL play better. Mental attitude goes a long way.
MrNylon Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 The new hard wear looks good on it. It blends with the pickguard. Good choice for a good looking Axe.
manse Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Congratulations... good work - big improvement. It has made me want to get busy myself. I have a gorgeous red 335 with black plastic parts - and a tempted to swap the p/u surrounds for cream, the knobs for amber and maybe lose the pickguard.....? Decisions. decisions.... If I got the same degree of aesthetic improvement you did, I would be well pleased. Manse
Dave J Posted January 11, 2013 Author Posted January 11, 2013 Thank you all for the compliments, It turned out better then I had hoped. I will say that it was a inexpensive experiment. Total out lay about $60 (which included new strings), and I got to find out what it was like under the hood/bonnet so to speak. Davej
