69tele Posted January 12, 2013 Author Posted January 12, 2013 thanks thats the problem, i have and cant get a clear answer... any help appreciated !
retrosurfer1959 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 the service is heavily regulated here can't really buy a sim card to drop in. Your best bet would probably be to grab a cheap disposable phone with the fixed minutes you might think you need and then throw the thing away or give it to some friend here. Its not like Europe at all where you can just pick up non contract sims to load into your phone. Sorry if that doesn't help but it's not really the way to do it for US travel. The basic concept here is all about the service contract usually a two year commitment and then they start wheeling and dealing to keep your business so they offer better phones etc for free but no easy cheap way in without a contract except the disposable phone route. You might check with your provider first though I know when I travel over to Europe or Asia my provider can unlock my phone for about 10 bucks a month for the world phone service yours might offer the same kind of deal.
69tele Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 thanks for that.. will check that out, the probs isnt my phone working in the US it will, but the roaming rates are REALLY high
