BluesKing777
I posted a link to some Retro Series Martins the other week - the UK Guitarist Magazine gave the D-28 Retro a Gold Guitar Award - faultless! I said, and still hope, Gibson are coming out with the latest tech Aura with a vintage spec guitar as well! The Retro Series are designed for hassle free live playing with an Aura system recorded off early Martins from the Martin Museum, - it would be nice to play with the Neumann mic he records with , but if you play with a drummer and bass player, they will be coming through that mic louder than your guitar - and while my explanation earlier was a bit useless, Tony from MV does it well: BluesKing777. A shop here has some in stock they say!

duluthdan
The amulets are pretty ultimate in my humble oopinion . And you don't need presets JC I'll echo that. Wish I could hear this live though instead of my little laptop speakers, and I'd be willing to bet that the full-blown "Performance" mod, would be interesting to hear too. But just in general I have a low (and biased) expectation of under saddle ribbons. Have had two Highlander pickups - were touted as the latest and greatest when they came out, one sounded Ok, and the other performs way below my desires. I'm very happy with both the Trance Stereo, and the Trance Mono.
BluesKing777
I have NOT tried any of the Retros or Amulets. I have the Aura Spectrum pedal which can be used with any of my guitars with u/s pickups, and have used it live with many compliments about the beautiful sound from the PA, which was a pretty ordinary unit in some cases. It needs a person with a chip on his shoulder from bad treatment with sound people/bands in the past to appreciate the joy of plugging into my preamp with a DI lead straight to a PA with a very clean sound - it may not be a pure acoustic sound like a really nice mic, but that has a lot of problems that I won't begin listing. The advantage I see in the Retro Series guitars as advertised is the stage readability (just made that one up!). The Amulet system needs to be installed etc, while the Retro guitars are ready to go straight out of the shop. I could fly to say Paris or even Prague!!!! tomorrow and if I could buy/hire a Martin OM28e Retro there, I could happily play somewhere that very night (in theory)..... The guitar series is aimed at live playing musicians and I think they will go well and hope Gibson does a similar series. BluesKing777.
ParlourMan
I wasn't overwhelmed by the image clips from the Martin retro series at all, I watched all the 'fever pitch' stuff with Chris Martin and the engineers involved, then saw music villas clips, the Neuman mic swept the floor with every setting without breaking sweat. To be brutally honest I prefer the sound I can get with a bog standard LRBaggs element pickup to those images.
