Izzwardo
I tried searching a topic on this but could not find anything but I was wondering about hanging my gibson on a wall hanger. I have hung all my guitars on my wall in my music room for years but with my les paul I am kind of nervous and have not had the nuts to take it out and hang it up. Will any long term damage occur to the instrument from hanging it and for the stupid question, here it comes ha ha. Do I need to humidify my les paul? I live in a dry climate and I do humidify my acoustic guitars but am not sure about my les paul. Any help is appreciated. Oh and what is the best wall hanger for my heavy les paul that will not scar the neck?? Here is my 2004 Les Paul Limited #12 of 275 that I want to hang. lazarusvt84
Been hanging LP's (and ES's/SGs) at home for 4 yrs...my 2010 Traditional for 2 and I see no reason to stop. My only concerns are humidity (I have a meter to make sure the room stays in the mid 40% all year round requiring both a humdifier in winter and dehumidifier in the summer), and the hanger itself (contact surface) reacting to the nitro finish. So far, so good. hang with confidence! As you know, humidity greatly affects wood and therefore guitars. Guitar makers go to great lengths to 'season' the wood properly (humidity) before cutting away. I notice changes in humidity greatly affect tuning and even (or because of ) the neck. Izzwardo
Cool thanks for the information. Nice gear you got there and I like the hangers. Going down today to buy one and going to throw it up on the wall. Been hanging LP's (and ES's/SGs) at home for 4 yrs...my 2010 Traditional for 2 and I see no reason to stop. cjmwrx
They'll be fine. Just wrap the hanger with some white cotton, or well washed black if you are concerned about it. Even my Hercules hangers marred the finish on my old ES.
Danner
I keep my LPCC on a FretRest with a white wash cloth, and run a humidifier in the dry weather, like it is today. I also have my Southern Jumbo and Martin D21 hang there as well. No worries.
