I've wanted a really superb Slope of this type ever since I got my Eastman E10-SS,which though excellent is not quite as "old sounding"(without actually being a vintage guitar)as the stunningly good Kopp K-35 or vintage Gibsons I've played.....I wanted to buy "new" and did not wish to spend the kind of cash needed for a Kopp....So,after doing alot of research I came upon this Fuller's Custom J-35,which was purchased new.

The Fuller's folks did a great job of representing this guitar and I am beyond thrilled with it.....It is very, very close to what my mind's ear remembers about the K-35 Kopp.I wanted a certain something in this kind of a guitar and boy does this Gibson have "it"!

I honestly did not think any new Gibson could be this good and with a build/fit/finish to pretty much match my H&D,Bourgeois or Collings....That is saying something about what Gibson is capable of,I'd think....but never knew!!

For an asking price far below what a boutique costs, this guitar blows me away....My poor harmonicas won't be getting much reed play for a while,I guess.-:)

Best to all,on such a great forum

I've asked the folks at Fuller's to E-mail me some pics and they said they'd do so,but none so far....Sorry!

Btw,as I'd mentioned on another forum, there is a fellow with a screen name "Red333",who is an avid Slope collector. He's been on this forum too and was instrumental in giving superb input on this wonderful guitar. So,buying sight unseen, with the ability to return it was a great aid....Thanks again Red333!!

I debated posting this because the picture is so ridiculous. This is me outside of a Cracker Barrel a couple of days ago. I had just bought a '39 J-35! You can guess which one is me (the one with the big smile of course). The manager there was having a difficult time operating my phone camera.

Somebody school me on the Fuller's version. Which version of the J-35 did they reissue? 3 tone bars or 2? Mine is the 3 tone bar version.

whats a cracker barrel !??

nice guitar !

I realized as I was posting this that the name Cracker Barrel might not mean much to people outside of the southern states. It is a restaurant meant to mimic a country store and serves southern style breakfast food. It was where the seller asked to meet. Other than that, not important.

Thanks!

Awesome. Good for you!

You'll have to give us a full report.

John, that one's a beauty! You bringing it to the Orlando show, or is that one a keeper?

That is the "mystery" guitar I mentioned in my Orlando post... 3 tone bars! Yes, I am bringing it to Orlando. It needs the bridge reglued and a couple of crack repairs. Other than that it is a fantastic guitar!
