Gibson Repair... are they d-d-d-slow?

I got my '07 Standard Faded back from Gibson Repair (Yes, THE Gibson Repair), and had the resonation problem we talked about before (strings above nut resonate and you can hear it through the pickups)... Couldn't figure it out! Well, I got to looking at it, and it looks like a child with d-d-down syndrome cut the nut slots. Not even ONE is evenly spaced from the other. They have also chipped my veneer.

And now I 'm calling Gibson customer service and getting shuffled from a ring for 5 min, then music for 2, and more ringing... This is frustrating.

I sent my guitar to Gibson repair because I figured it would be the BEST working on my guitar... What gives?

Not to mention, I sent it for fret buzz, and the thing still buzzes on every fret. What? They have a PLEK machine! Are they they hesitant to run my guitar through it?

They don't plek everything' date=' ya know. As far as I know, it's only new Standards, Traditionals & CS guitars.[/quote']

I know - but they sent me a guitar with frets that can't rival a Squire - Why can't they put the thing in the PLEK? That's probably why they got one in the first place. A lot of these new Gibsons, when you look down the neck, it looks like you're eye level with a gravel road. They can't get better quality out of their employees, so they just get a PLEK.

Oh, and it didn't cost me one dime... Unless you count me buying the guitar! Convenient, huh? And it won't cost me anything to get it fixed either - just wait.

Actually - it goes back further than that! I bought a guitar in '06 (Explorer Pro Trans Amber: $1250), and the binding was separating from the top. So I sent it into Gibson under warranty, they told me that it's not covered... I told them that I bought the dang thing that way and they need to pick it up a bit because nearly every Gibson I'd seen lately that wasn't out of the custom shop has had serious problems (even saw a ZW flying V from the Custom shop that was disgustingly built!). They told me they couldn't fix it, and they'd send me a replacement. They didn't make that guitar anymore, so they gave me a choice. I picked the LP Faded Honey Burst... When I got it, the frets buzzed like a bee, the top match was horrible, and the dang thing was hollow. They sent me one of the early hollows, apparently, because nobody had a clue what I was talking about when I said it was so light... Then I sent it to get the frets checked, they F*$@ed my nut, chipped my veneer, and sent it back. And here I am.

Keep this thread bumped' date=' I want to see how this bumfuggle turnes out.[/quote']

They're going to pick it up this Wednesday - they'll probably have it at Repair next week....

I hear that some times when things get bad they send repairs to the custom shop B) B)

They owe me that after all this, honestly.

I don't understand...They may not ship an Explorer Pro Trans Amber anymore, but how fricken hard would it be to build a replacement for you? Did they destroy the only plans to the Explorer? Did they sell the machines that cut the bodies? Did they run out of Transparent Amber? What gives?

By the way, I have a trans amber LP standard, it's one of my favorite colors.

I don't think that the Gibson employees would understand actually having to pay attention to what guitar they were making. And for the record - Trans Amber is the most amazing finish I believe I've ever seen. It was beautiful on that guitar - and I wonder every single day what happened to that specific guitar. Here' s some pics:

Either they fixed it and took this notable guitar home for themselves, or bashed it into a million pieces. Each option makes me cringe...

damn that sucks dude D:

if you want it plecked and gibson wont do it check your local luthiers if you got any' date=' some are buying their own plek machines now. and they are less likely to mess up your guitar even more.[/quote']

Gibson is one of like 3 people to own one of these machines from what I understand.

And I bought the guitar because the store said if Gibson didn't take care of it, they would.
