wouldn't it also have the larger pickguard? I looked at a ton of 67 SG's on google and not a one looked like this. It's hard tellin' with this one. The case is odd too... a modern case which looks abnormally old.

If it's real, it's a 2006 Sg Standard Custom Shop-Not faded

Is there wings on the back of the headstock? There is a nuance in color but .........

Binding and frets, what you call it fret nibs? Its lacking here.

A nice fake.......

dam that's getting scary. I don't think I would have spotted it as being a fake. I guess I wouldn't make a very good guitar detective. but I did think someone had filled some pick guard screw holes and put that pick guard on it and then refinished it with the wrong stuff.

Fake or real, the finish has a lot of lacquer checking (cracks). Also, were they using ABR-1 bridges back then (note the retaining wire and the screws facing the bridge pickup)?

I have an SG Standard and they now have the Nashville bridges (not sure about the "61 re-issue models). Also note that the stop tailpiece and the bridge have quite a bit of oxidation.

Whoever had this guitar before was a real sweater and didn't seem to wipe it off very often, if at all. Why the heck he has.his knob pointer flush against the finish is beyond me.

Most ones I see (including mine) are turned up so the point makes it easier to read where you're dialed in on volume or tone. But, to each his own, I suppose.

I just noticed the lowest pick guard screw, to the right of the screw the pick guard seems to over hang some too. but that could be the image and light. Hey if I ever find the next guitar of my dreams can I post a couple pictures for you guys to look at? I have been hearing about some pretty good fakes.

Could've been refretted.

The bass side cutaway bevel is huge.

Pretty early it's supposed to be a 2006, the bevel looks huge.

That pickguard might look a bit odd

Have you guys seen what this thing sold for???? Over 2000 bucks!!! That guy is going to be pissed if he finds out it is a copy. And this buyer protection may not fly because the seller has not disclosed anything saying it is authentic or of vintage issue so the buyer may have to eat 2000 bucks. Tim

You can see in the left middle of this image right near the bridge there is a hole that has been filled in, so that pick guard on there is a replacement. It would have had a batwing pick guard on it.

I'm sure there are people who can finish lacquer to crack. That fetched some good money to potentially be a fake.

Cracking laquer is not hard to do... get yer guitar nice and toasty and hit it with a can of that compressed air used to dust with... there you have it. I reliced a poly finished strat one time using that method... it actually ended up looking rather authentic but there's no controlling the effect... you just kinda cross your fingers and hope for the best. I have a few nitro finished strats that will develop finish cracks if you look at 'em the wrong way. If I were to dig one out from under the bed and then put it near a heat register it'd be all over.

In any event, it's too bad that someone's getting ripped off and that the description is vague enough that it's going to be hard to make a case to ebay or paypal to seek out a refund :(
