New Gibson Flying V Heritage Red and Case

Just wondering why is the Flying V in Heritage red with hardshell is not that big of a seller?

I got mine with a Samash $799 with a price match from Music123 for $707.(Guess at $799 it was a better deal since samash sold out of them}

Looking at the Date on the back of the guitar makes it a NEW May 2011 guitar that

has been sitting at MF warehouse for close to 2 years lol.

I like the guitar and glad it was not a faded one since faded ones are all over the place........JT

I would add a pic but the file of the pic is too big.

But I guess the V Heritage Red or any other color just does not

move as fast as the faded ones.(almost 2 years in stock, maybe they don't rotate

their stock lol....JT

I use windows-paint to downscale the size (example: open the picture in Windows paint,Then save it as 70% on length & width, instead of 100% ,Voila`,smaller sized picture ! [thumbup]

I Really would love to see it since I myself got an 2012 - Cherry gloss 68V (with granadillo-fretboard),came with an hardshell case too...Right now it`s in pieces because of re-building/modding,But I will come back later with photo of it ! :)

Sadly standard Gibson Flying Vs and Explorers are not that big sellers, I think the reason may be that not a lot of people like the body shapes, then people that do tend to be Metal guys and by todays Metal standard the features on these guitars are fairly obsolete.

That leaves a very small market then you add the fact that Gibson stick to the same ol' colors.

I think Gibson makes these models in batches only once or twice a year, right now they are out of stock in a lot of places, you will see that all of the sudden they will be re-stock everywhere.

If Gibson made a batch of Vs and Explorers in the best selling "Nitrous" colors they offered recently on the LP studios I bet they would sell well.

Yeah,I`ll agree,The body-design does NOT appeal to everyone, and I`ll could easilly put money on that,V`s ain`t the easiest guitar to sell it again,if it does not grow on you! [laugh] ,.To me,The 67-look is pure iconic rock`n roll design,Love their looks. [woot]

-Me myself too wish Gibson offered more various colors to them,(and with more different specs)..The last 20 years they have been offered only,as ebony, cherry or white !

-I`m pretty positive that there are other different brands of V`s today, that have more modern feel, faster necks,floyd-roses etc, that is way more full-filling the needs for an modern shredder than the original Gibson V`s..But,remember, This V-model was based on the design from 1967..(...and the first V-model,korina,in 1958)..

What I like about my 68 V,is: thick massive and LOUD tone, really fun to play, good value for the price of them nowadays..and the looks of a V..Cant be beaten! :)

I too love the look of the '67 reissue, more so than the original '58. Although I have to say that I recently saw two original '58 Vs at an exhibition and they look really cool.

I may still buy a 67 V one day, they can be had for so cheap used (and apparently new too).

There are so many faded Vs out there, I think it affects the resale value on these guitars, frankly I think that's why I was able to get my Jeff Waters V for so cheap, because a used Gibson faded V is so cheap that people just go for that instead. I am really happy with my V because of the killer features on it.

This thread needs pics.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just ordered a blemished white one from Zzounds for $799, no tax and free shipping. They also have ones in new condition for $999. I can't believe the price and quality on these new Gibsons. It's crazy. Somebody stop me before I buy another.

PS - it came and it is great
