Murph
The only Custom Shop I own is my ES-339, and it's on the back of the head.
BigKahune
. What model? As it may have something to do with the historical aspect of a replica/reissue. .

Martin 1940D28
Thanks Murph, The ES and Arch tops are a totally different ball game. Should have asked only of "Gibson Flat Tops". Martin 1940D28
Martin 1940D28
Didn't think I'd get much of a response to this question. In the last decade of the last century, I had only seen this topic in print a couple of times. The ones in print, mentioned, were Special Order only, "built from scratch" Custom Shop Acoustics. During this recovery period, after so much damage had been done to their reputation, Gibson built fabulous and fantastic "Flat tops". Although they will never rival Gibsons built in the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's, they will surely find a much deserved place all in their own, as time goes by. Motherofpearl
I'm unsure of the question but my J35 has the serial Number on the neck block rather than the back of the headstock?
jchabalk
My 08 J45-TV has the same. No custom shop logo on it though. I wonder if the neck block placement of the custom shop logo was done for some period of time before settling for the back of the headstock? Martin 1940D28
Thanks folks. Martin 1940D28 I would think the first thing that would be issued, would be a serial number.
zombywoof
Does anybody else find that custom shop logo on the back of the headstock kinda annoying. I would much rather have it on the neck block or at least some place inside the guitar.

I keep wanting to peel it off every time I see it, sort of like those "do not remove under penalty of law" labels on pillows.
