JD2000
Hey folks, I’ve uncovered an SG from the closet and am trying to determine what model I have before I attempt to sell it. The serial on the back of the head is 133119 with Made in USA engraved. In addition to finding out what model this may be, I am also wondering how much cosmetic work I should do before selling. I figure to put on a new set of strings, clean & wax, oil the fretboard…..but there’s light rust on some screws/bridge/tail and one tuning peg has been replaced and doesn’t match the other 5. Should I worry about this stuff or leave as-is? It’s very playable with great action…..
sgplayers
I think if I were you I would just let the buyer see it the way it is. btw where are you?
sellen
Guess it's a 70-75 sg special with mini humbuckers. I couldn't have resist to cleaned it up. If it's in good conditions, and plays well. 1500 $ would be decent for both seller and buyer i think

slavestate
Very cool guitar. I would personally take a **** ton of photos of it in the condition it is now. Then I would take the strings and hardware off to clean it so it's nice and shinny. I wouldn't try to take off any excess corrosion. I would lightly clean the body, neck, headstock and hardware. Then I would polish the frets and put it back together, add a fresh set of strings and set it up. The electronics probably could use some contact cleaner like Deoxit. I'd make it nice and pretty so it'll sell better, if that's what your intentions are. It'll still look nice and aged while retaining a playable feel. That's just me though.
