Heisenberg
Maybe a stupid question, but now I'm paranoid I may have messed up my LP. Just installed Dunlop straplocks. The one by the toggle switch originally had a smaller/shorter screw, I had to soap up the bigger Dunlop screw and really apply the elbow grease, I did not drill first. The screw in the bottom one however originally had a bigger screw. The Dunlop screw was smaller in circumference, but the threads were closer together. It screwed in, seemed snug, but not as snug as the other screw. I hesitate to use a strap yet because I don't want the bottom button to get loose. Did I install this right or was there a better method? The Dunlop screws are longer and on the first one I really had to force it in there at the end. I hope the wood doesn't split. :\
btoth76
Hello! To install Dunlop Straplocks on a Les Paul (with the screws in the set) You'll have to drill the hole deeper at the upper bout. Nothing else is need to make them fit. I have them on both of my Les Pauls. Be very careful doing it! I turned the drill-bit manually, without a power drill, to be extra safe. Cheers... Anyway, To snug up the bottom screw you could take a few shards from a tooth pick and drop them in the screw hole, then reset the screw. Just go slowly. btoth76
Strange! The bottom screw fitted right in on my both LPs.
durtyDevil
Careful, those Dunlop screws are cheap crap that strip extremely easily...not fun when it's 3/4 of the way in and stripped. Unfortunately I know this from experience. I like the easy pop in/pop out of the Dunlop design, but I only use Schallers now.
kidblast
the Schalers win out every time for me. You can use the stock pin screw that Gibson's ship with.
