frequensator tailpiece advice or feedback

Question-

I just purchased a 62 anniversary reissue Sheraton (cherry no trem). I absolutely love the guitar. This is my first epi with a frequensator tailpiece. Cosmetically it's gorgeous, however I feel like there is absolutely no sustain whatsoever. I am tempted to install a gold bigsby b70. I saw a 66 cherry Sheraton in cherry on line in LA guitar shop and it's stunning. What's the feedback on these tailpieces? Are they functional? Should I just look at e nut and bridge? I would appreciate any feedback! Thanks"

If maximum sustain is what you're after, a stopbar and bridge configuration would be a better choice than a frequensator --- or any other sort of trapeze style tailpiece. I've replaced trapeze style tailpieces with Bigsbys on a couple of thinline guitars and the sustain did increase slightly, but not tremendously so.

I agree with parabar, the bigsby will increase it slightly and I think sheratons really suit a bigsby, but it wouldn't be a huge differenece. The frequensator adds a nice look and also a nice feel to the strings I think?

Avoid the stop bar if you can ias its likely to devalue the guitar and not look so nice. There been plenty of great guitar tones with a frequensator or trapeze tailpiece so try to work with it is my advice. Good luck !

I'll agree with the above two posts. I recently put a B7 on my Elitist Casino. Was there an increase in sustain? Yes. Was it a lot? No. Noticeable, but not earth shattering. Looks a lot better though IMHO.

Weird - mine's sustain is fine. Maybe it's only the stock crappy strings - try a decent set of 10-46 strings before modifying your Sheraton.

I've been seriously considering pulling the stop bar and installing a trapeze tailpiece on my black Dot. Not only do I like the slinkier feel of wraps over the TOM, I also have heard some incredible tones from that setup. EC's SG had a Maestro tailpiece on it, and he just eventually removed the lever I think. No sustain problems with cranked Marshalls! What about Trucks? Not too shabby there, either, same setup. Changing over on my Dot should be easy, and easy to reverse if it doesn't work out.
