ParlourMan
Some cool guitars, horrendous tattoos and extremely mediocre music. I'm actually baffled as to why he's had any success. Not very complimentary I suppose, but there you go...

I posted the photos so the gibson lovers would see his guitars ... I don't know the guy but I know he is really involved with charity and US troop supported he has gone over many times to supported them so I guess he has to have a good side JC

JuanCarlosVejar
not really comparing it to anything ...just saying my personal feeling is that they were a bad band ... John Lennon and Paul Mccartney got good to me when they went separate ways . I don't think they are musical gods or anything but they were really good songwriters ... after the beatles peoriod at least for me ... I mean let's face it ...they more more of a hype than anything else ... none of them were good singers (like Elvis back in his day) I'm not saying Aaron or Staind is great fantastic music ... but I wouldn't say The Beatles is fantastic music either . Neil Young and CSN are way more enjoyable to me than the beatles . JC
je302
I've personally met Aaron, and seen him live many times. Amazing voice, no frills but I could listen to just his solo acoustic performances for days. Might not be your cup of tea, but a very talented performer. EuroAussie
The first Ive heard of Aaron Lewis is when I bought his signature guitar, but in the two years since Ive really appreciated his acoustic music and his EP 'Town Line' is a big favourite of mine. Love his gravelly, whisky and Marlboro tinted voice. We cover two of his songs at our shows and they are always very well received, even when not really known. Having said that his first full length LP that recently came out to me was a massive disappointment, just bubble gum country pop. Pity as he has shown he can do so much better. Pretty hard not to like a tune like this (from Town Line). It showcases to me the soul and spirit of Gibson as well as any performnace. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvlrwboVr3I

zombywoof
Very nice gaggle fo guitars but I guess my idea of Gibson Heaven is somewhat less cluttered - the two I own plus the addition of one pristine 1939 J-35.

57classic
I think it's a generational thing for us, ZW. "You say yes, I say no. You say stop, I say go go GO....." Nick, I don't know about the generational preference. I have 2 sons, 19 and 21. They both love the Beatles. The 21 yr old has broad tastes in music and has always liked the 60's era. His younger brother has been hooked on rap/hip hop for years and he loves the Beatles. I'm surprised when people, however few, say they don't like the Beatles. I'm especially surprised when (even fewer) people say that the Beatles aren't/weren't talented . Each to their own - I won't change their minds and they won't change mine

Can't stand modern country/pop of the Taylor Swift variety. And don't even talk to me about rap/hip hop.. Geezer, and proud of it.

ParlourMan
I'd have to disagree JC, the Beatles, even in their boyband phase, were something of a force to be reckoned with. I so much prefer the stuff 65 and onwards and agree with the quote by John Lennon himself "we never really got going until Rubber Soul" by then the songwriting had moved a bit further on from that I love you / She loves you / schmaltzy pop stuff to something more substantial. But even the Love me Do's and the Hard days night's still carry an energy most pop from that era doesn't... given the rather short lapse in time between the first sparks of Beatlemania and the final bow and when you look at the body of work left behind I think it's quite easy to say why they're so good and easy to see why most groups and musicians would give them the ultimate nod. Nobody else has come close to leaving such an influential catalogue, other icons of the age such as the stones just didn't have the same songwriting skills and every record has a few howlers on it bar Exile on Main St. The Who, again some great stuff, some real howlers, the byrds, well it got boring quite quick ....and so on. I've never heard another act who after years of producing hit after hit could come out with something as near flawless as Abbey Road, most groups just don't have it in them after the first round of success has seen them use all their best material up. Anyway, just my tuppenceworth on it...

Thats good to know PM, as I received on my bday last year the entire remastered catalogue and was wondering where to begin. Ill take Lennons advice and begin from Rubber Soul. Although in JC's defence I sort of do understand where he is coming from. I have huge respect for Beatles, depth of catalogue and influence, but I have to admit Ive never been really tempted to listen much to them. I really dont know why, I like them, but always seem to pass them on when it comes to actively listening to their material.

I'm not saying the early records are poor, far from it, and of course there is the sense that Beatlemania meant they could hardly put a foot wrong between 63-65, but it is what it is a pop band, Rubber Soul is great, by Revolver we start to see some real magic, Sgt Peppers has a couple of duds on it (in my opinion) but once you hit Abbey Road and the White album or Let it be, it's staggeringly good. Form the cheesiest of pop fans to the chin-stroker muso types, they've got something of a ridiculously high calibre for you, across the borad I'd say there's never been a better band overall. There's plenty of stuff I love way more than some Beatles stuff but their catalogue os just phenomenal
