And at the end of the month, on the way home, stoppin at Fender for a tour and maybe a really nice souvenir. rct
Guest Farnsbarns
It's my wedding anniversary. Pure genius, even if I do say so my self. One present, one date to remember, adverts everywhere reminding me and anywhere we might go is already set up and catering to couples wanting a romantic night out! Have a good time! milod
RCT... If you're driving I90... IM me for my contact info. You'll be within 10 miles of the geographical center of the US. You may also need chains in Jellystone and the east gate highway downhill to Cody, even with 4WD. Some years ago they were required this time of year. Even with 'em, coming down the hill to Cody one late fall trip with ice conditions, I put a big Jeep into the cliff-side ditch by intent - the alternative appeared to be the cliff on the right side. If you take HWY 16 over the hill from Buffalo, Wyo., to Tensleep, it's probably a bit easier travel across the Bighorns unless you come up to Cody and then up the hill from the south. But be careful of elk or moose at night. m

Guest Farnsbarns
Farns... Me too. m Really? What a clever chap you are! ;) I did it in Vegas, Elvis impersonator and the lot. I was a travel agent at the time so I got a comp suite at the Belagio FOC and the commission (even at minimum levels) from booking 20 guests paid for our flights. A bit of poker while there and we got home in profit! No wonder my wife says I'm highly romantic, not!
milod
Farns... I wish it had been so romantic for us. It was the only sort of available weekend in about six months. I worked Friday the 14th, married that evening, left the next morning for a business meeting... one supper out in "the city" and an overnight... then home. OTOH... four months later we spent nearly six weeks in Northern Europe. Even through it was a "work trip" for me doing a series on international trade and economics, it was a nice opportunity. m

One present, one date to remember, adverts everywhere reminding me and anywhere we might go is already set up and catering to couples wanting a romantic night out! Have a good time! That's great! My anniversary is my wife's birthday for the same reasons! (it was her idea even).

Going to try for the Glenwood Canyon drive on 70 west of Denver, that is truly a beautiful drive, can't wait to see it again! We'll park at Flagg Ranch, north of Jackson after a few glorious days in that town, favorite town in this country. Yellowstone will pick us up and snowcat us in cross country. It is tough to do that park in winter, we'll have now been there 5 times, winter is the last season for us to see. Been all them places you speak of, last year crossed Wind River Reservation twice. We're 4wheelin a bigass Explorer, fingers crossed. Gave ourselves 5 days to get toJackson, in good weather can do it in three from NJ. The pass up from Salt Lake is tough, slow goin for sure, hoping for the best, same when we head out, down 15 and over to Death Valley. Southern Utah will be good, so short time in winter followed by lots of desert. The Fire and Ice Tour! Thanks for the offer! I truly wish we could stop and see all kindsa people like you along the way, the reservations and timing are so serious that we can't make the time, make these reserves a year aheada time, tonnes of planning. rct
milod
Yeah, 70 is way south... and Kansas isn't the geo center. <grin> OTOH, this year's weather patterns seem to favor the route you're taking. As for the sparse country and sometimes the unexpectedly treacherous weather or other conditions... We're kinda used to it. m
Kaiser Bill
After 28 years the wife and I do not celebrate Valentines... our wedding anniversary is the day after Christmas and our b'days are the next day. Simple...three days of fun...then dark the rest of the year. Very cost effective.
