Les Paul Fanatic
Hey I was taking a pic of my VM last night to help out one of our fellow Gibson brethren, and when I pulled the cavity plate off, I noticed that instead of everything being soldered, it was all quick connects like what you see on EMG's or the Seymour Duncan Blackouts, anyone care to elaborate on this for me. =P~ :-s :-s :-s :-s :-s
LP_VM55
Maybe it's because they are burstbucker pro's instead of 1's or 2's... Plus they are double wrapped in opposite directions... OR It could help keep the VM a more affordable and cheaper... i don't really know i'm just spitballin here...
Ian Martin
My guess is that it's a newer model and therefore part of the natural progression Gibson is taking their guitars. The new Standards have circuit boards and quick connects instead of point to point soldering.

KingMetalHeart
This is the control cavity of a '08 VM. No more solder drips........looks too clean,I like how everything is labeled as well, hell in my day we needed to be electricians to change out pu's/push/pull pots, now all you have to do is read?????? Where's all the fun in that? Not even having to have a phd in schematics? lol
thejay
I opened my up after seeing this and my newer one is the same but my older one is soldered. Interesting...
