Rabs
Wow.. every so often I see some new tech that makes me think.. I think that one of the changes we are going to see is in the user interface. I mean we still pretty much use PCs in the same way that that we have always been up until the touchscrees started taking off.. but I really dig this idea.. Imagine when that screen becomes a huge see through flat screen or more likley a holograhic one.. (like in Monirity Report). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdCp_if7eZA actually.. sort of like this :)

retrosurfer1959
It can be amazing technology I worked in the IT field for local government and we used the glasses mounted computer screens that would let you wear a pair of safety glasses or sunglasses with a pc image viewed through one eye and they were pretty amazing combined with the GIS Geospatial Software and a portable computer we had people out collecting data on bicycles and even on foot and it was amazing you could do a find and drive up to a intersection and you could see a marker where every pipe, valve, conduit and even things like roadway signs and sidewalk and street data were located in the field using a hand mouse you could scroll through and pick individual structures and pull up all the data. So standing there you could say right there is a valve cover it's item number ##### and it's a shutoff valve for a eight inched forced water main the line if 12 foot deep and runs this direction and the valve was last serviced 216 days ago and it's a Creydon model 647 with a repair kit available. It probably quadrupled the work capability of field staff because we removed about 80% of the going back to research maps in the Engineering Department. Our accuracy was usually about 12 to 18 inches which was our choice because of speed versus accuracy need and since were talking about infrastructure if your within 18 inches and can't find it it's not there. it was one of the fastest growing aspect of technology before I retired two years ago. we had just rolled it out to the public safety groups so they could have truly interactive maps of the best data we had available amazing and very functional technology that's gonna be everywhere in a very short time. rocketman
One of our researchers is developing a method that uses brain waves to directly design a piece of hardware. Right now he's got simple shapes working. Truly amazing stuff. Think about someday having a picture of an design in your head and then having it go right onto the CAD system. retrosurfer1959
I don't know about the brain pattern to production system's - I'm afraid everything i created would eventually look like one of three things primarily a naked woman, a Gibson Les Paul, or a steak and a beer. So I'm not sure how valuable that would really be. I could just see the company president coming in saying OK Retro what's the deal you started this project eight day's ago so far we have two Salma Hayek three Kate Beckinsale's, Three steak Dinners, Four Chimichanga's and all these guitars where are the parts you were supposed to be working on ???? MissouriPicker
Damn, when I was a kid, having a 25-inch color TV made you the envy of the neighborhood. All that stuff that used to make us think "Incredible" on Star Trek, etc. is now real.
