nid2007
Hi, any of you have experience and thoughts you are willing to share on this guitar? I played a '99 maple version that was not my cup of tea, but I think that was just because of the maple related lack of sustain or setup. I'm gassing for deep body type 12 fret, and sold a guitar last night with the JB Signature model in mind for my next purchase. I came across one of these on ebay and thought I might throw it into the mix (someone finally jumped on the JB sig listed on the Trading Post that caused this 12 fret GAS). I also have an HD-28VS in the mix, so if anyone has any comparative comments on that guitar, please let me know. I might end up going the route of calling a 5 star dealer and making a special order, and if anyone has some tips on that process, please pm me. Thanks! Yggdrasil
I had one of these from the 2006 run ( a small run IIRC)- just sold it in the fall. I was the original owner. Paid 1900 new. QC was pretty bad on mine - immediately needed a new tuner ( under warranty) and the nut was so miscut that I had to have a new one made right away (my cost). At the time there was another poster on this forum who had one and she also had a badly cut nut - IIRC, hers had virtually no slots. Her posts might still be in the archives, but likely from 2007 or so. The ebay one has been up forever - This is at least the 3rd time I've seen it run for a month. Overall, though, I liked the guitar - A real looker & the tone was acceptable, and I like 12 frets. The deep body makes it a little less comfortable to play than a 00. If it had a 1 3/4 nut width, I might have kept it.

TM
I had one of these from the 2006 run ( a small run IIRC)- just sold it in the fall. I'm a Nick Lucas fan. I remember your guitar. They also made a very small run that was more like the originals in finish and without a pickguard, 12 fret mahogany. Any 12 fret Gibson variation is hard to come by. I would look at this Fairbanks. These are very highly rated guitars and look more like a Gibson than Gibson More money, but probably a lot more guitar.
nid2007
Thanks all. I bought a JB...I'm done. It was inevitable. I'm a lifelong fan, no artist I've seen more in concert and no artist whose songs I play more. Plus its a nice complement to my collection...hopefully fills a niche. J-1854Me
I have an original (1928) Nick Lucas mahogany 12-fret, and a 'replica' built last year. They be nice. Fred
