drathbun
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg2G5gf9GHk The Good Old Hockey Game - by Stompin' Tom Connors Hello out there, were on the air it's hockey night tonight! The tension grows, the whistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice. The goalie jumps, and the players bump, and the fans all go insane. Someone roars: "Bobby Scores!" At the good old hockey game! (chorus) Oh! The good old hockey game! Its the best game you can name! And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game! Second Period. Where players dash, with skates a-flash, the home team trails behind. But they grab the puck, and go bursting up, and their down across the line. They storm the crease, like bumblebees, and they travel like a burning flame. We see them slide the puck inside, its a one- one hockey game! (chorus) Oh! The good old hockey game! Its the best game you can name! And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game! Third Period. Last game in the play-offs too. Oh take me where the hockey players face off down the rink, And the Stanley Cup, is all filled up, for the champs who win the drink! Now the final flick, of a hockey stick, and a one gigantic scream: "THE PUCK IS IN! THE HOME TEAM WINS!" At the good old hockey game (chours repeat 3 times) OH! The good old hockey game! Its the best game you can name! And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game! ksdaddy
It was in the gym of an old armory. I went up on stage after the show and scooped up some sawdust from his board. Wilf Carter (Montana Slim) was on the bill too. He was a friend of my father's. They spent some time together before and after the show. Hank Snow was supposed to be there but backed out. He had his 60s J200 then. I don't know how many guitars he had but I know he had something like a '42 Southern Jumbo he bought in Nashville in the early 60s, the J200, then a D-28, and according to an email I got from his wife a few years ago he also had a Garrison. She said she had the SJ restored for him for a birthday or Christmas present.

TommyK
Not Stompin' TOm! God bless his family. Scott, you seem to know all those famousy guys! Do you still have the sawdust? Was this Armory on the Canadian side or American side. Stompin' Tom was a patriotic guy who, legend has it, never stepped on US soil and never intended to. He just liked his home land best. ksdaddy
This was in the US but I'm only 15 miles from the border! I still haves the sawdust somewhere.
