LOL... :D

I wasnt even aware of these till I started looking.. I wanted the black nut cos it will go much better with the colour scheme I hope to use but I like the sound of permanently lubricated (which im assuming comes down to the slippery surface of graphite?)

I have one of these on my Tele Custom. They're very good value for money and I haven't had a single problem with mine. Sanding down the bottom to fit my neck was a faff but apart from that nothing to complain about.

...and you'll never be at a loss for a writing implement when fans ask for your autograph!

Could be some kind of new outsider art from.. Guitar Art :)

Haha. No you dont have to. Its one if those nerdy guitar things that some people swear by and some people dont care. ( as is the material, most people will say a bone nut is best as it helps with a brighter tone or sustain or whatever its meant to do blah blah)

If your nut string slots are not quite big enough the strings can get a bit stuck. This can cause major tuning problems. So having a lubricated one helps the whole thing along. (I think having a properly cut nut is the best way).Personally I have never had that issue so all of my Gibsons have the standard nut. Its just as im doing it myself I thought id give it a go and see what all the fuss is about :) maybe ive been missing out all these years?

I think TUSQ is a type of lubricated plastic, at least it feels that way. The advantages of it over bone is that they are more consistent in terms of quality. Some bone nuts can have sustain issues from one string to the next. Im thinking or ordering their lubricated strat saddles for my tele, I should probably get the frets redressed first though.
