LarryUK
I'm in the UK. This isn't political. But are prices rising as fast over there as they are here? Our gas/electric is shocking. Petrol/diesel is going up shockingly fast. Diesel is £6.70 a gallon now which is $10 a gallon to you. I'm even thinking of selling some gear to keep up with bills. I'm 54 and I've never known it so bad. As I've said earlier. No politics. But rants welcome.
Tman5293
I have not noticed a dramatic change in prices here in Texas. The only thing I've noticed is a spike in the cost of gasoline. It's now at about $3.50 a gallon. Before the spike it was down around $3.00 a gallon.
krock
When I went travelling around the US last year I found out how much cheaper fuel is over there. 1 UK gallon is also equal 1.2 US gallons so that need to be considered as well. At least we're out of recession now though. The growth rate here is down -0.3% in march so prices should have been much more expensive for you during 2008/9 when it went down by -2.1%
daveinspain
In Spain everything is pretty much stable although you would never think so from watching American news channels... Gas has gone up a bit but nothing drastic. It was at 1.10 a liter last summer and since then it has climbed to 1.40 which translated to about 6 bucks a gallon.... retrorod
Yes, the prices are climbing here in Eastern U.S. as well. Food and gas prices are taking a bigger bite out of peoples budget. The trend on food and household commodities here is for the size to get smaller while still trying to maintain a price point. Gas is at $3.80 gallon......for now! Mark
Here in the Midwest we always see an increase in gas prices due to seasonal blends generally in the fall and Spring. This year we got it in February. Do you guys across the pond do the same thing? Have you ever heard of seasonal blends?
69tele
I was in Florida a few weeks ago and it was costing us 50-60 usd to fill up our 8 seater. So about 35-40 GBP in Gibraltar were petrol is cheaper than the mainland Europe or UK (£1.17 . litre now) I paid £70 to fill up last time out. I also got myself a new strat and saved nearly 500GBP on the UK price :-) BUT what we have to take into account that wages/cost of living etc are on par with those prices. Murph
Fruit is going nuts here in the midwest, but it's early March. I paid $ 4.99 for a bag of apples the other day. A bigger bag was $ 7.99..... Gas here in Southern Il was 3.72 yesterday. The thing about dollars is, the more they print, the less they're worth.
Big Norm
I'm in Canada, Montreal area, and the litre of gas is around 1.45$, that mades about $6.50 for an Imperial gallon (UK) or $5.80 for a US gallon. But I should say in Canada it depends what Province you live in. I think it's more expensive here in Quebec than all the other provinces....du to taxes :( Must have some other Canadians over here that could confirm this. Versatile
As well as fuel costs...food costs seem to be escalating... Meat, fish and vegetable costs are starting to get silly... And yet, many people do not appear to be changing their purchase habits... V
Izzy
My uncle is in St Catherines, Canada and he goes to Buffalo for some stuff. He gets groceries there. Here in Texas, life is good so far. Gas isn't cheap but it is still between $3 and $4 per gal. I shop at Whole Foods, so food isn't cheap for me, but it is all in what you buy. I wanted icecream the other day (pint for $3.50) but chose to get a bag of clementines instead for twice the price...three times the servings and more nutrition, it was a no brainer. I feel so guilty when I don't work more or when I get sick and call off. I feel like any minute I'll lose my job and have to take up prostitution (I'll be damned if I seel my Gibbies!) charlie brown
We're in an "Oil Boom," here...most land owners around here have a least 1 well, and many have several! So, prices to up, accordingly. No biggie, for the "new wealthy," but for folks like me (no land, except what my house is on), and retired, on a fixed income, it's "tentative." Food prices, are the worst offender. They're totally ridiculous, here...IMHO. Some items have more than doubled, or more, in price, recently. Consequently, us "POH" folk, drive 25 miles, to the nearest Walmart, and/or Dollar General, for lots of bulk items, and some food stuffs, that are simply too expensive, locally. Even with the gas prices, the savings can be quite dramatic. So...??? CB

Gas has been hovering around $1.30/L, which is about $4.90 for a US Gallon and $5.90 for a UK Gallon. So yeah, it's a little cheaper. -Ryan
AXE®
Catch 22 here. When oil & gas prices rise. So do my paychecks. Don't forget to top off those tanks.
Rabs
A lot of it is because of the fuel prices.. Fuel goes up so it costs more to transport food around etc... But then we are such a small country compared to most.. We import way too much.. And sadly cos of the recession wages have remained pretty much the same for a few years now

Gas (and GAS) costs too much but I cannot really complain seeing as how I carpool and drive every fourth day.

RaysEpiphone
Gas is around $3.50 for regular here in North Carolina, a bit higher in the bigger cities, I live in a smaller city so it's not to bad at my house.
bonzoboy
Gas here in the island part of Newfoundland and Labrador gas price works out to be about $6.75/gal. Cdn. and closer to $7 in Labrador. If fuel prices go much higher I think that I'll have to sell the truck to buy gas.
