BRAND NEW Epi 335 case... pretty crappy

Just received an Epiphone brand 335 hardshell case and I am pretty disappointed [thumbdn]

I'm a HUGE Epiphone fan and i got this for my 30yr old Casino. As a player since '77, I'm somewhat familiar w/ these cases. A bargain (I thought), it only cost $79 from Musicians Friend and arrived quickly.

BOTTOM LINE ~ This case is lightweight & flimsy:

The hinges are loose, the lid flops around and it won't close tightly or securely. You have to hold the lid in place when tightening the clasps or else it wants to slide off track & hang off one side.

The plastic covering arrived from factory scuffed-up. The vinyl is soft- feels like it'll rip easily and the pleather pattern ranges from slight to nonexistant.

The fur lining is sparse, faded and looks pretty cheap.

I'm disappointed. I could have bought a generic case that would have been better quality.

IMO: Epiphone should be ashamed to put their name on this junk.

Major bummer.

Luv,

filth

One of the plushest hardshell cases I got was a made in China Epi for an acoustic. One of the flimsiest I got was a made in China Epi for a Les Paul.

Meanwhile, Yorkville cases (still made in Canada) are consistent, solid, will house Epiphones, and are an excellent value.

Another vote for exchanging it. I just got an Epi case for my 339, and while not the nicest case in the collection, it is not bad. I do have to put some downward pressure on the top, aligning the channels around the edge, before it will latch, but some of my other Gibson and Taylor cases do that as well. I've seen a lot worse, especially for $80.

perhaps it was a "Monday morning or Friday afternoon" case?

yeah, send it back...

I only have 3 Epi cases...an EJ 200 case & 2 (1 black 1 grey) Sheraton (335/345/355) cases....they're all top shelf stuff, the EJ case you have to actually push the guitar down gently into the case because it's an airtight fit !!
